What is an anniversary dance? How does an anniversary dance work?

The Anniversary dance is a great way to include all of the married couples together at your wedding. It also makes for a great photo opportunity and a long lasting memory for you and your fiance. There is something special about seeing the couple that has been married the longest on the dancefloor with the couple that has just been married (you).  Both couples are able to share in an amazing moment together. Plus, there is usually not a dry eye left in the house.

So how does the Anniversary dance work?

Your DJ will invite all married couples to the dance floor to share a dance with the newlyweds, usually with slow wedding music. Once the dance floor is full, your DJ will then politely ask couples (with the exception of the bride & groom) who’ve been married less than 1 year, then 5 years, then 10 years, etc. to please leave the dance floor. You could use any wedding music or songs you might want, but it’s best with a slow song that is enjoyed by all ages of married couples. The Bride & Groom will be left dancing with the couple that has been married the longest. Many couples will request that their DJ ask the couple that has been married the longest for advice on a long happy marriage.
