There are several reasons you may need a second photographer. It could be because your day includes multiple locations or you want to guarantee that you get that shot of you coming down the aisle but also the shot if your fiance reaction of you coming down the aisle.  A second wedding photographer allows you to capture more images. A lot of the time couples will have multiple events happening at the same time.  For example, the guys getting ready at a home and the ladies getting ready at the hotel. One photographer can only be in one location at one time. If you chose to split the time with one photographer, it will limit the coverage of each event.
