A geofence is a virtual fence around a Producer/Processor. Like a real fence, a geofence creates a separation between the specific location and the area around it. When combined with the location tracking on Drivers devices we can effectively track when and where drivers are unloading and driving.
While adding/editing a Producer/Processor you will see a button that says ‘Add Geofence’ or ‘Edit Geofence’ at the bottom of the screen.
This will bring up the following pop-up. You can then enter the address or drag the map until you find the correct location.
The ‘Drawing Mode’ can be set to either Circle or Polygon -
Circle
Choosing ‘Circle’ for the drawing mode will automatically set a Radius Circle of 200 meters where you click. You can adjust the radius by increasing the number in 'Radius' or dragging the points on the circle to the needed size. The latitude and longitude will update with the size of the circle but the box is not able to be manually changed.
Click ‘Save’ to save the geofence or click ‘Clear’ to start from scratch or change the drawing method.
Polygon
Once you have chosen ‘Polygon’ you will be able to click on the map to start the first dot around the property, drag your mouse and click again whenever you want to indicate a turn. Once done, double-click to highlight the area in red. You can now click and drag any of the white dots to adjust the Geofence or click save to be done!
