Economic releases are scheduled announcements of key economic data β such as employment, inflation, growth, or central bank decisions β that can cause significant volatility in futures markets.
Major US economic releases include: NFP (Non-Farm Payrolls) on the first Friday of every month, FOMC (Federal Reserve interest rate decisions) 8 times per year, CPI (Consumer Price Index) monthly, PPI (Producer Price Index) monthly, GDP (Gross Domestic Product) quarterly, PMI / ISM monthly, and Retail Sales, Unemployment Claims, and Powell speeches recurring.
These events typically cause rapid price moves, wider spreads, and reduced liquidity in the seconds and minutes around the release.
Trading economic releases on MILTRADERS: Trading during high-impact news is allowed, as long as it remains part of a coherent strategy and does not resemble gambling behavior (see "Can I Trade During High-Impact News Events?"). Use proper risk management and avoid oversized positions opened solely to gamble on news volatility.
You can find the daily release schedule on any major economic calendar (Forex Factory, Investing.com, Bloomberg).
