Scalability is one of the design concepts in mimic. Therefore, apart from the customizable built-in web pages, users are able to create their own pages using either drag-and-drop or coding. We have also incorporated the option of creating a custom Playlist page. In this article, we will explain how to create the different types of custom pages available in mimic; namely:

  1. Drag-and-Drop Custom Page

  2. Embed Code Custom Page

  3. Playlist Custom Page

1. “Drag-and-Drop” Custom Page

To create a custom drag-and-drop page, open the Web Portal Module > “Pages” section > click on the “Add New Custom Page” button. This will open a window from which you can choose the type of page you want to create. Click on the “Drag and Drop” option > click on “Next” to proceed.

Give your page a name and domain, and click on “Create”. Note that you can control having header/footer menus appear on your new web page by turning the corresponding toggle switches ON/OFF from here. Alternatively, you can edit these settings at any time from the “Pages” section in the Web Portal Module.

Finally, design your page by using the “Unlayer” editor located on the right side pane with four tabs:

  • Content: contains a collection of content creation tools.

  • Blocks: contains pre-built design blocks.

  • Body: design elements such as font, text colour, background colour, etc.

  • Images: a selection of photos powered by Unsplash, Pexels, and Pixabay.

Note that custom pages that are created using the drag-and-drop option will appear under the “Drag-and-Drop” pages list.

Useful tips:

  • Always “Save” your work, and remember to push the page “Live” once done. You can preview the web page by clicking on the “Preview” button located in the bottom-left section.

  • Page status (such as Live, Public, header/footer visibility on the page) can be controlled further from the “Pages” section by turning the corresponding toggle switches ON/OFF.

  • Page accessibility can be controlled further by making it visible in the navigation menu (your header bar) from the “Page Elements” section by turning the corresponding toggle switches ON/OFF.

See article suggestions at the end for more information.

2. “Embed Code” Custom Page

To create a custom page via coding, open the Web Portal Module > “Pages” section > click on the “Add New Custom Page” button. This will open a window from which you can choose the type of page you want to create. Click on the “Embed Code” option > click on “Next” to proceed.

Give your page a name and domain. Next, embed your code in the iFrame code box by inserting it in-between the two quotation marks “...” - see image below. Finally, click on “Create” and the page will simply be created.

Note that you can control having header/footer menus appear on your new web page by turning the corresponding toggle switches ON/OFF from here. Alternatively, you can edit these settings at any time from the “Pages” section in the Web Portal Module. Moreover, custom pages that are created using the embed code option will appear under the “iFrame” pages list.

Remember!

3. “Playlist” Custom Page

> This type of custom pages can only be created if you have existing playlists in the Video-on-Demand Module. If you don’t have playlists yet, you must first create them in the VOD Module, so they are available for you to create this type of custom page.

To create a custom playlist page, open the Web Portal Module > “Pages” section > click on the “Add New Custom Page” button. This will open a window from which you can choose the type of page you want to create. Click on the “Playlist” option > click on “Next” to proceed.

Give your page a name and domain. Next, open the dropdown menu and select the playlist you want to incorporate into this page. Once done, click on “Create”.

Note: If you don’t have playlists yet, you must first create them by going to the Video-on-Demand Module, and then they appear here for you to select and add to the playlist web page.

Note that you can control having header/footer menus appear on your new web page by turning the corresponding toggle switches on/off from here. Alternatively, you can edit these settings at any time from the “Pages” section in the Web Portal Module.
