How do I use the blood pressure monitor?
How do I use the blood pressure monitor?
Updated over a week ago
  • First, attach the cuff like the opposite of the wristwatch. It should fit snugly, Goldilocks style, ‘not too tight, not too loose.’ The writing on the cuff should be right side up (demonstrate on your own body).

  • It is important that there is a one-finger width gap between the top of the monitor and the hand.

  • For an accurate reading, you must be sitting with your feet flat on the floor and legs uncrossed. You can support your arm with the monitor at the elbow with your other hand so you can relax the monitor arm. Hold the monitor away from your body at the level of your heart.

  • There is a switch on the side that is sometimes hard to see, that will power the device on. The middle button will start a recording.

  • When you are ready, relax, hit the middle button, and follow the audio prompts. You can use this as an opportunity to take a few deep breaths before your session.

Errors

  • “ErU” - monitor not inflating correctly (too low)-- Have the client remove the monitor and try again. Remind them “not too tight, not too loose. Don’t talk or move during measurement.”

  • “ErH” - monitor not inflating correctly (too high)-- Have the client remove the monitor and try again. Remind them “not too tight, not too loose. Don’t talk or move during measurement.”

  • “Er1” - pulse not detected– Have the client remove the monitor and try again. Remind them “not too tight, not too loose.”

  • “Er2” - excess movement– “Don’t talk or move during measurement.”
