To create AI-generated model images, the first photo in your listing is what really counts. This image is used as the main input for the image generation, so getting it right is essential. While all general photo tips still apply (good lighting, sharp images, neutral background), the first image should follow these specific rules.
The first picture (model input) must follow these rules
Clear frontal view
The first image must show the item from the front. Do not use detail shots, pictures from the back or other variants as the first image.Correct rotation
Make sure the item is positioned upright and naturally - as if it were worn by a person. Incorrectly rotated images can lead to poor results.Flat-lay works best
Flat-lay photos generally perform better than items on hangers, as the full shape and proportions are easier to recognise. No tags on the item
Remove/hide all price tags, paper tags, and security tags.Buttons clearly visible
Either button the item fully or leave it fully unbuttoned - just make sure all buttons are visible so the model can understand the structure and confirm that nothing is missing.
Good to know
Input quality defines model output. AI models work for the vast majority of clothing items, but very complex fits or unusual cuts may not always be recognised correctly. In those cases, the model option may not be available.
If you’re unsure, try scanning the item again with these tips in mind or reach out to our team for guidance.
