To protect your Mintsoft account from unauthorized access it's recommended that you enable IP Restrictions so that users can only login from a restricted IP range e.g. Within the warehouse or corporate firewall etc.
Important: If a user has the AdminIPRestricted role enabled but the whitelisted IP addresses are not correctly configured (or no IPs have been added), the user will be blocked from logging in entirely — including after a password reset. If a user reports that they cannot log in and a password reset has not resolved the issue, check whether this role is enabled on their account and either remove it or add the correct external IP address to the Admin Whitelisted IPs field.
Enabling the IP Restriction role
To set IP Restrictions, you first need to enable the role of the user(s) this will affect:
Click Settings then Warehouse User Accounts.
Find the user.
Click Actions then ManageRoles.
Select the roles required:
AdminIPRestricted - Will only allow the user to log in from valid IPs that are configured.
Finally, click Update to save changes.
Now it's time to add the IP Address(es) for the user(s).
Adding the whitelisted IP Addresses
Once you have enabled the permission for the user(s), you will then need to add the IP addresses:
Click Settings then Customer Account Settings.
Next, click the Contact Details tab.
Within the Admin Whitelisted IPs field, paste the IP address(es).
This IP address will need to be the external facing IP address. Rather than local network ones so avoid ones like 192.168.0.1 etc. as they tend to be local.
Next time a user with the AdminIPRestricted role that logs in from another IP Address not listed in Customer Account Settings will get an error.
Finally, click Save.
This will take effect the next time that user logs in.
Note: When you need to save multiple IP addresses these need to be seperated with a Semi Colon (;).
Best Practices for Managing IP Whitelist and Access Restrictions
Regularly review and update your IP whitelist to include all necessary IP ranges.
Monitor firewall logs to identify and address any blocked requests.
Stay informed about platform updates by consulting the release notes.
File Import Failures Despite Successful Test Connection
If the Test Connection passes but files fail to import, the issue may be related to IP whitelisting. Authentication and background services often use different IPs. To resolve this:
Whitelist the IP addresses or ranges used by Mintsoft’s background services for file imports.
Check your firewall logs for denied requests from these IPs and add them to your allow list.
Keep the connection active and wait for the next scheduled run to verify that files are imported successfully. Note: Each FTP connection may use different source IPs, so ensure all documented ranges are allowed.
