In this article, we will outline the steps necessary to configure the mobile scanner for use with the Access Mintsoft app. This guide will also be beneficial for customers encountering difficulties with barcode scanning and navigating the app.
Prerequisite - Updating Android System Webview
Please ensure you have updated your Android System WebView, you can update it through the Google Play Store.
Zebra Configuration Steps
If you are using a Zebra device (For example TC21, TC22, TC26) to log into the Access Mintsoft app, there are some additional steps required to log in for the first time:
Within the Scanner's Apps open DataWedge.
Select the three dots in the top right corner.
Choose New Profile and create a profile for Mintsoft.
Enable this profile, and associate it with com.mintsoft.
Select * for the activity.
Enable Keystroke output.
For the Key Event Options select Send Characters as Events.
Next, enable Basic Data Formatting.
Finally, tick Send Data and Send ENTER key.
Newland Configuration Steps
If you are using a Newland device (For example MT65, MT90) to log into the Access Mintsoft app, there are some additional steps required to log in for the first time:
Within the Scanner's Apps open Settings.
Select Quick Settings then tick to Enable Scan.
Next, select the Output Mode as Simulate Keystroke.
Select Prefix & Suffix, and add 0d to the Suffix field.
0x should already be added at the start.
Customers wishing to use GS1 Scanning please review the following steps, alternatively continue to Step 6 -
Select Symbologies then 2D Code.
Enable Composite then to the right select Detail.
Within the Detail menu tick Enable UPC/EAN Composite.
Next, go to Settings, then Extended Settings.
Select Scan Settings, then Symbologies.
Scroll down to the appropriate barcode type, select Detail, and choose Transmit System Character ‘0’ from the list.
Newland settings/ configuration reset
Please be advised we are aware of an issue concerning the old Mintsoft WMS app and Newland scanners. Customers have reported that using the old Mintsoft WMS app in conjunction with a Newland scanner may reset or delete the configurations set for the new Access Mintsoft app. To prevent this from occurring, we advise against using the old Mintsoft WMS app with a Newland scanner.
GS1 Scanning
There are known issues with GS1 Scanning on the Newland scanner, any issues related to this please raise a new case online and reference the title of this article.
Honeywell Configuration Steps
If you are using a Honeywell device (For example CK65) to log into the Access Mintsoft app, there are some additional steps required to log in for the first time -
Within the Scanner's Apps open Settings.
Select Honeywell Settings then Scanning.
Next, select Internal Scanner then create a Mintsoft profile by pressing the + symbol.
Choose the Select an Application and associate it to the Mintsoft app (com.mintsoft).
Create a new profile for Mintsoft.
Next, select the Mintsoft profile then Data Processing Settings.
Enable Wedge and set the Wedge Method to Keyboard.
Enter \x0D\x0A in the Suffix field.
\x0D for autofocus and \x0A for auto enter after scan.
Enter 9,10,13 in the Wedge as keys field.
Additionally, within Symbology Settings, click on EAN-13 and tick Send Check Digit.
Otherwise, EAN13 barcodes will not scan correctly.
Testing the scanner function
The Access Mintsoft app features a scan test function located in the app's settings. To access this, tap the three lines in the top left corner (commonly referred to as the hamburger icon), then select Scanner Settings/Testing. After that, scan a barcode; if your scanner is properly configured to use Simulate Keystroke, the barcode should display. Should the barcode fail to appear, please ensure that your scanner has been correctly configured by following the instructions provided above, tailored to the specific make of your scanner.
Scanner not reading full barcode
If your scanner is not reading/ scanning the full barcode (Including Check Digit and System Characters), please ensure the Transmit System Character ‘0’ (Also called Transmit Check Digit) is enabled. Please refer to the manufacturer’s instructions on how to enable this for your device. Additionally, some scanners require scanning the Terminating Character 0x0D (CR) barcode to enable this.
