Create Location Types

You can add additional location types to be used in your Warehouse on Mintsoft if you want to charge for different-size locations or if you want to assign a priority stock allocation. To create a new location type, please do the following:

  1. Click Warehouse then Extras.

  2. Next, click Location Types then Add Location Type.

  3. Enter a Name.

  4. Set the Priority.

  5. Select what attribute the Location Type will have:

    • OffHand: If selected, stock held in this location type won't be allocated to orders.

      • Setting the location type to offhand will result in stock being unavailable to pick or sell. Only use this setting if, you are sure.

    • Replen Only: If selected, stock held in this location type will only be used to replenish stock

      • Additional information can be found in our Replen help guide.

    • Tote: This location type is used primarily for the Multi-Order-Multi-Tote picking method. When picking, items can be stored here instead of using a traditional tote trolley.

    • Trolley: This location type is used only for use when carrying out a Proactive Bulk Replenishment on the Access Mintsoft app. When creating a Trolley location type you must enable Off Hand as well.

    • Goods Out Only: This location type is used as an interim location for picking. The order is packed and ready to go but waiting on a courier to collect for example.

    • Goods In Only: This location type is primarily utilised for ASNs as a temporary holding area prior to allocation to a picking location. It is advisable to enable the Off Hand toggle when designating a location as Goods In Only, as this will prevent orders from being allocated for picking from this area.

    • To create an OnHand location type please ensure none of the attributes (OffHand, ReplenOnly, Tote, Goods Out Only, Goods In Only) are enabled.

  6. Once finished, click Add.

Once a Location Type has been created, it can then be assigned when creating a new location (Or updating an empty location).

OffHand Location Type

Offhand (quarantine) location types would typically be used as a temporary holding location until the stock has been properly checked, inspected or counted in either goods in or returns processes. When you book stock into an offhand location type on Mintsoft it will increase the offhand stock level - this does not get included in any stock syncs sent to externally connected sales channels with inventory sync enabled and is not available to use for orders.

When the stock has been checked properly you can easily transfer it from an OffHand location to an OnHand location using the Access Mintsoft app (Including Mintsoft WMS app) or the web instance of Mintsoft. If the stock is not good enough to be picked then you can instead book the stock out or scrap it.

Moving Stock From Offhand

Stock held in an OffHand location, can only be transferred to an OnHand location either on the web instance of Mintsoft, or app:

Location Types FAQ

Can we update a location type that has products associated with it?

Location Types cannot be updated if Products are associated with Locations with that Location Type.

How do we create an OnHand location type?

To create an OnHand location type, please ensure none of the attributes (OffHand, ReplenOnly, Tote, Goods Out Only, Goods In Only) are enabled.

Can we toggle multiple attributes for a location type?

Each Location Type except Trolley must only have one attribute (OffHand, ReplenOnly, Tote, Goods Out Only, Goods In Only) enabled. If no attributes are enabled the Location Type will be an OnHand location type. The only exception to this is the Trolley location type, this must have Off Hand and Trolley enabled.
