This article explains how to configure automatic packaging messages that appear during the despatch process. You can set messages at two levels - for specific clients or individual products.

Overview

Packaging instructions help ensure your team follows the correct packing procedures by displaying automatic reminders at the point of despatch. These messages appear as pop-ups that staff must acknowledge before printing shipping labels. You can configure instructions at two levels:

  • Client-specific - displays the same message for all orders from a particular client.

  • Product-specific - displays unique messages for individual products.

Note: Packaging instructions have a 99-character limit and only appear for individual products, not bundles.

Set up client-specific packaging instructions

Client-specific instructions appear on all order despatches for that client.

  1. Go to Clients then Overview.

  2. Find and select the relevant client.

  3. Click Actions then Edit.

  4. Select the Defaults tab and scroll to the PackagingInstructions field.

  5. Enter your message (maximum 99 characters).

  6. Click Save.

Set up product-specific packaging instructions

Product-specific instructions appear whenever that product is despatched.

  1. Go to Products then Overview.

  2. Find and select the relevant product.

  3. Click Actions then Edit.

  4. Select the Extra Details tab.

  5. In the Packing Instructions field, enter your message (maximum 99 characters).

  6. Click Save.

How packaging messages work during despatch

When despatching orders through Picking or Order Picking for clients or products with packaging instructions, an information pop-up appears. Packers must acknowledge this message before they can access the shipping label, ensuring important packing requirements aren't missed.
