Kit building allows you to create products from multiple components, automatically allocating component stock in bulk. When you build a kit, the system combines specified components into a specific product that's picked and dispatched as one unit with a single picking fee.
Note: Kit building differs from product bundles. With kits, components are pre-assembled before dispatch, while bundles are picked separately at dispatch time.
Kit build types
Mintsoft supports two kit build methods:
Existing SKU - Converts an existing product into a buildable kit. Once converted, you must use kit building to replenish stock. Standard stock booking won't apply the build cost.
New SKU - Creates a new product from components. The new product requires kit building for all stock replenishment.
Create a kit build
Go to Products then click Extras.
Click Kit Builder.
Click Create New Kit.
(3PL accounts only) Select the Client.
Choose your kit type:
To use an existing product, select it from the Kit Result Product dropdown.
To create a new product, enter a SKU in the NEW Kit Result Product field.
Select the Warehouse where stock will be added.
Enter a Name for the kit. This appears on the Additional Invoice Items report.
Enter the Quantity of kits to build.
Select the Build Cost Type:
PerKit - Charges a fixed build cost regardless of quantity.
PerItem - Multiplies the build cost by the quantity.
Enter the Build Cost.
Add build instructions if required.

Kit build management
Picking logic
Kit building always picks components from the location with the highest quantity, overriding default picking location settings.
Kit paperwork
Each kit generates paperwork showing:
Kit details and specifications.
Component list with quantities.
Pick locations for each component (visible after clicking Start Build).
Copy existing kits
To repeat a kit build:
Go to the Kit Builder overview screen.
Find the kit you want to duplicate.
Click Copy Kit.
Modify the copied kit as needed.
Important limitations
Cannot modify after starting
Once you click Start Build, you cannot:
Add or remove components.
Change the warehouse.
Delete the kit build.
To make changes, click Cancel Build and start again.
Stock in transition
Component stock allocated to a kit shows as 'In Transition' until the build completes. If stock remains stuck in this status after deleting a kit build, raise a support case referencing this issue.
Troubleshooting
Modify components after starting
You must cancel and restart the build to change components. This releases the allocated stock back to available status.
Change warehouse location
Warehouse changes are only possible before clicking Start Build. Plan your warehouse selection carefully before starting the build process.
Delete a kit build
Deletion is only available for kits that haven't started. Once you click Start Build, you must complete or cancel the build instead.
