Admin user types act as templates for warehouse user permissions, allowing you to quickly assign consistent roles and permissions to multiple accounts. When you apply an admin user type to a warehouse user account, it automatically sets the predefined roles and permissions.

Before you begin

To manage admin user types, you'll need appropriate administrator permissions. Contact your system administrator if you don't have access to these settings.

Create an admin user type

Create reusable permission templates for your warehouse user accounts.

  1. Go to Settings then click Warehouse User Accounts.

  2. Click User Types then click Add User Type.

  3. Enter a Template Name for your new user type.

  4. Select the permissions you want to include in this template.

  5. Click Create.

Your new admin user type is now available to apply to warehouse user accounts.

Edit an admin user type

Modify the permissions in an existing admin user type. Changes only affect accounts created after the update.

Note: Editing an admin user type doesn't update existing warehouse user accounts. The changes only apply to new accounts created after the update.

  1. Go to Settings then click Warehouse User Accounts.

  2. Click User Types.

  3. Select the user type you want to edit.

  4. Click Edit User Type.

  5. Add or remove permissions as needed.

  6. Click Update.

Note: You cannot rename an existing user type.

Delete an admin user type

Remove admin user types that are no longer needed.

  1. Go to Settings then click Warehouse User Accounts.

  2. Click User Types.

  3. Select the user type you want to delete.

  4. Click Edit User Type.

  5. Click Delete Admin User Type.

Apply an admin user type to an account

Apply an admin user type to add permissions to an existing warehouse user account. This process adds any missing permissions from the template without removing existing permissions.

  1. Go to Settings then click Warehouse User Accounts.

  2. Search for and select the warehouse user account you want to update.

  3. Click Actions then click Manage Roles.

  4. In the Apply User Type section, select the admin user type you want to apply.

  5. Click Update next to the user type selection.

  6. Scroll to the bottom of the Manage Admin User Roles section and click Update.

The system returns you to the Warehouse User Accounts page with the permissions applied.

Tip: Applying a template only adds permissions; it doesn't remove any existing permissions. You can apply multiple templates to combine different permission sets. For example, you could create separate templates for 'Mobile permissions' and 'Client access', then apply both to give a user all relevant roles.
