There are two parts to this setup, first is on the client's picking costs then the next is on the product details.
Setting up carton costs can be useful for situations such as, if you ship one carton of fifty units, instead of the system charging 50-unit picks, it will charge one carton pick.
If you ship full cartons for your customers, you can set up the system to charge by a carton amount instead of individual units. Additionally, this can be useful for customers wishing to streamline their scanning process.
Enable Carton Charging
To enable picking by carton rather than by unit, please do the following:
Click Clients then Overview.
Search for the client.
Click Actions then Edit.
Click the Picking Cost tab and enable the carton picking cost toggle.
Just beneath that, you can set the carton pick rate you want to charge for each carton, you can set the same amount for the first and additional cartons or set different amounts.
You can also override these values on a product level (if, for example, some cartons are much bigger / smaller than others), this is covered in the product section below.
Pick charge when order contains cartons and units
If an order contains an amount of a product that does not equal a carton size, then the system will charge the difference as a unit pick fee.
For example, if the Carton Size is 10, but the order ships 11 units - the system will charge 1 x carton pick fee (Standard First Carton Picking Cost) and 1 x unit pick fee (Standard First Item Picking Cost).
Effects of Removing Carton Costs
When carton costs are removed in Mintsoft, the system recalibrates how it charges picking costs. This changes the calculation as follows:
The system reverts to charging picking costs based on individual items within the carton rather than treating the carton as a single unit.
If carton costs are removed, invoicing will return to the standard picking calculation method for each item. The total costs are determined based on the assigned picking costs for individual items.
Adding Carton Override Pricing to individual Products
You can also set an individual carton-picking cost for each SKU, which would override the client's default carton pricing:
Click Products then Overview.
Search for the product.
Next, click Actions then Edit.
Then, click the Picking/ Storage Cost tab.
Set your required carton pick rates for the product.
Finally, click Save.
Repeat for additional products.
Note: After making changes to carton pricing, ensure to review and confirm any invoice adjustments to finalize these changes. Keep in mind that modifying carton settings may influence client invoicing.
