You can upscale content and achieve up-to 16x upscale on photos and 1080P for videos (4k on newer devices). The output resolution may vary from user to user based on two factors:
The resolution of the input
The device
Import photo
24 megapixel max
All Macs (M1, M2, M3, M4 chipsets)
iPads with A14 and later (2022-) M1, M2, M3, M4
iPhone 12 and later
12 megapixel max
Older devices (not in 1.1) since the A12 chipset.
Photo upscaling factor
Upscaled photos are limited to not exceed 24 megapixel (4284x5712).
A 2X dimension upscale is equivalent to 4X pixel resolution increase. (e.g. 2x 2 megapixel will result in 8 megapixel output.)
Any photo over 6 megapixels will only show 1x output option.
Video import.
Limited to 1080p on all devices.
1 minute duration max
Video upscale output.
iPhone 15, 16, iPad with M chipset, all macs. 1080p and 4k
All other devices. 1080p only.
