While ChatPad is designed to be plug-and-play, following these simple steps will ensure your Live Transcribe sessions are as accurate as possible.
1. Position your microphone
Best to have a clear "line of sight" to the speaker's voice.
Point the mic: Aim the bottom of your phone toward whoever is speaking.
Stay close: For the best results, keep the device within arm's reach.
Clear the path: Ensure your hand or a phone case isn't muffling the microphone holes at the bottom of the device.
2. Manage your environment
Background noise is the primary reason for "skipped" words.
Avoid "hum": Move away from loud fans, air conditioners, or buzzing appliances.
Limit cross-talk: Live Transcribe works best when one person speaks at a time.
3. Speak with clarity
You don’t need to talk like a robot, but a little extra clarity goes a long way.
Steady Pace: If you speak too quickly, words can sometimes "blend" together.
4. Editing and Manual Typing
Can I fix a mistake while the app is transcribing? To maintain the highest speed and accuracy, Live Transcribe is a "read-only" stream. To make changes:
Stop the recording: Tap the microphone icon to end the live session.
Switch Modes: Tap the Keyboard icon to enter Manual Typing mode.
Edit: You can now tap anywhere in the text to pull up your keyboard and fix typos, add specific names, or clarify sentences.
