Can I Split a Photo Across Several Tiles to Create a Single Image?

Learn about splitting an image across multiple tiles.

Updated this week

Yes, you can — and it can look amazing! 🤩

While Mixtiles doesn’t currently have a built-in photo-splitting tool, you can create a large single image across multiple tiles by splitting your photo into sections using your own photo-editing software. Many of our creative customers have done this with stunning results!

How to Do It:

  1. Use any photo-editing program (like Canva, Photoshop, or an online collage tool).

  2. Crop or divide your image into equal sections — one for each tile.

  3. Upload each section as a separate photo when placing your order.

  4. Once your tiles arrive, arrange them on your wall to recreate the full image.

💡 Tip: Leave a bit of space between tiles when hanging — it often makes the image look even more striking.

A Few Tips to Keep in Mind:

Framed and Frameless Mixtiles:

  • About 3 mm of the edges are trimmed during production.

  • Try to leave a little extra space around important parts of your photo when cropping.

Canvas Mixtiles:

  • About 1 inch of the image wraps around the edges.

  • Keep key details away from the borders so nothing gets lost in the wrap.
