When your employee needs to terminate the lease due to a job transfer, reach out to the owner along with an official letter stating termination of the assignment signed by your company as soon as possible.

You want to check if a leaseholder has a termination policy (we call it “a job transfer cancellation”) and can find in a lease agreement or an addendum.

Make sure you follow the timeframe to inform the termination.

Below is an example.

TRANSFER: The landlord agrees that after 12 months, in the event tenant incurs a job transfer, localizes or must repatriate back to his/her home country, this lease may be cancelled upon a sixty (60) day written notice with no additional cost. The sixty (60) day notice shall begin the day of written notification and will be effective sixty (60) days from such date.
