Does Moolahverse Allow VPNs?

Updated over 9 months ago

The short answer is YES, we allow VPNs. Why do we choose to allow them?

We spent considerable time on this decision. Obviously, there are valid arguments for and against allowing VPNs. We don't wish to encourage players to break any laws in their country of residence, and we do not wish to create an environment supportive of underage gambling or to assist those outside the law to more easily engage in unlawful activity.

These are all valid concerns, and we spent considerable time on each of them. But when making decisions on anything, we focus on one consideration ahead of any others, and that is "What's best for our players?"

As the below article from Card Player Magazine illustrates, online casinos and their players are constantly being targeted by hackers. The late 2023 breach of Stake.com and theft of $41 million from arguably the top site in the industry should be a wake-up call for service providers and regulators that anything that adds security and encryption for players is positive.

Benefits to players who wish to encrypt their network traffic by utilizing a VPN include:

  • Improved protection of your privacy and data.

  • Extra level of security and encryption.

  • Enhances anonymity by concealing personal information, preventing potential theft of personal or financial data by malicious individuals.

  • Encrypting all traffic adds an extra layer of security to safeguard your personal and private information, ensuring it cannot be accessed without your permission.

  • This can also help reduce ISP throttling during times of network congestion, as it prevents the ISP from identifying the type of activity happening behind the encrypted firewall.

These are just some of the reasons we choose to allow the practice, and there are many more good arguments both "For" and "Against".

In the end, we decided that we weren't going to be fighting crime by treating our players like criminals and believe that players have every right to protect their funds, privacy, network, activity and online traffic as they see fit.

Moolahverse would not be serving our players to the best of our ability if we adopted a policy prohibiting them from protecting themselves. Some may disagree with this decision, but our commitment, service, and duty is first and foremost to our players and their security.
