How to Edit a Chart Widget

Learn to add, edit, resize, move, and delete Chart widgets in MNTN's custom report builder to customize and organize your reports.

The Chart widgets allow you to add Pie, Area, Line, Bar, Stacked Bar, and Combo charts to your customized reports. You can use the Chart widgets to visualize selected metrics.

Adding Chart Widgets

You can add Chart widgets to any Custom Report report in the Custom Report builder. Simply click the + Create Report button in the top left corner of the Reporting dashboard to open the Custom Report builder, then follow the below steps.

  1. From the Edit Report view, select the + Add Widget button in the top-right corner.

  2. Next, select Pie, Area, Line, Bar, Stacked Bar, or Combo Chart from the widget dropdown list.

  3. The Chart widget will then be added to your Custom Report for customization based on your goals.


Editing Chart Widgets

Editing the Chart Widget Data

Editing the widget allows you to easily customize how data is grouped and which metrics are displayed in Chart widgets.

  1. From the Edit Report view, select the Edit pencil icon in the top right corner of the Chart widget to open the Chart Widget editing modal.

  2. Use the Data tab in the Chart Widget modal to select your desired Summarize By dimension. The Summarize by dimension represents how the data is grouped or aggregated in the report. Common dimensions include Advertiser, CampaignGroup, Creative, and Network.

  3. After defining how you want to Summarize by, select what Metric(s) you'd like to view in the chart. The Metric the dataset's quantitative attribute. You can summarize your data by values like Impressions, Total Verified Visits, or Total Conversions. You can view all available metrics from the Glossary of Reporting Metrics.

  4. Once complete, please save your changes by clicking Done.

Editing the Chart Widget's Summary

You can customize the summary of your Chart widget from the Summary tab.

  1. From the Edit Report view, select the Edit pencil icon in the top right corner of the Chart widget to open the Chart Widget editing modal.

  2. Use the Summary tab in the Chart Widget modal to control whether the widget is eligible for Portaling and the Summary Metric.

    • Enabling Portaling allows you to click any data widget on the report to instantly plot that dataset on the widget. Clicking the dataset again will reset the widget to its default metric.

    • The Summary Metric allows you to add an additional metric as a summary above the chart.

  3. Once complete, save your changes by clicking Done.

Editing the Chart Widget's Appearance

You can customize the appearance of your Chat widget from the Appearance tab.

  1. From the Edit Report view, select the Edit pencil icon in the top right corner of the Table widget to open the Chart Widget editing modal.

  2. Use the Appearance tab in the Chart Widget modal to control the following features:

    • The Title field will allow you to change the labeling of your Chart Widget.

    • The Sub-Header Text field adds a description to display below the title.

    • The Sort Metrics option allows you to decide how you'd like the dataset ordered.

    • The Visualization feature allows you to adjust the dataset's size within the widget.

    • The Quick Look toggle exposes a dropdown menu on the widget that allows you to quickly change the metric being plotted on the chart.

    • The Hide Zero Values feature filters out any data from the chart with a value of zero when toggled on.

    • The Show Time Series Group By toggle shows a dropdown on the widget that allows quick grouping by period when enabled.

  3. Once complete, save your changes by clicking Done.


Creating a Tabular Chart Widget

MNTN’s Custom Reporting allows you to add custom tabs to chart widgets, enabling you to adjust the Summarize By function for each chart.

Summaries can include Time Series, Creative Names, Campaign Names, and more. When multiple Summarize By options are selected, tabs will automatically be added to the chart.

This feature is available for the following chart types:

  • Bar Chart

  • Stacked Bar Chart

  • Area Chart

  • Combo Chart

  • Pie Chart


Duplicating Chart Widgets

You can duplicate an existing Chart widget to copy its attributes to a new widget.

From the Edit Report view, select the Duplicate icon from the top right corner of the Chart widget.

  1. Your new duplicated Chart widget will appear directly below the existing Chart widget.


Resizing Chart Widgets

You can resize your Chart widget to adjust how it appears or fits within your existing report dashboard.

  1. From the Edit Report view, hover over the bottom right corner of your Chart Widget until the resize arrow appears.

  2. Click and drag the bottom right corner to adjust the width and height of your Chart widget.


Moving Chart Widgets

You can move your Chart widget to adjust where it lives in your existing report dashboard.

  1. From the Edit Report view, click the header bar of the Chart Widget, then drag and drop it to adjust its location.

  2. You can drag the widget left and right or up and down to control its position and orientation on your dashboard.


Deleting Chart Widgets

You can delete Chart widgets to remove them from your existing report dashboard.

  1. From the Edit Report view, select the "X" icon at the top right of your Chart widget to delete the widget.

  2. After deleting your Chart widget, any surrounding widgets will shift upwards to fill the space left behind by the Chart widget.
