Track Calls & Texts with CallRail

MNTN's integration with CallRail makes it easy to track calls and texts generated by your Performance TV campaigns.

Overview

MNTN ads aren’t clickable — but that doesn’t mean you’re flying blind.

Connect CallRail to track when someone watches your ad, then follows up with a call or text. We’ll pull that data straight into your reporting, so you can see which households reached out and tie real-world leads back to your Performance TV campaigns.

Why use it:

  • Clear Attribution: See which calls and texts happened after someone saw your ad.

  • Smarter Optimization: Use actual lead data to guide creative and messaging.

  • No Extra Setup: CallRail handles the tracking — MNTN just pulls it in.

How it works:

  1. Someone watches your MNTN ad.

  2. They call or text your business.

  3. CallRail logs the event and passes that information to MNTN.

  4. MNTN checks: Did this household see your ad within the conversion window?

  5. If yes, we attribute the event and display it in reporting as a conversion.


📝 Note: This is a one-way integration. CallRail sends data to MNTN — we don’t send anything back.


Set It Up

Setup varies slightly depending on your account type.

For individual advertisers:

  1. Go to Integrations.

    1. Sign in to your MNTN account.

    2. From the account dropdown in the top right, select My Account.

    3. Under My Account in the left navigation pane, click Integrations.


      ⚠️ Warning: DON'T go to Integrations under My Admin. Stay in Integrations under My Account.


  2. Connect CallRail.
    Under Integrations, find CallRail and click Connect.

  3. Enter your CallRail account number.

    1. From the Connect to CallRail modal, you’ll be prompted to enter your CallRail account number (no dashes).

    2. Click Connect.

      You'll be redirected to Fivetran, our secure data integration partner.


      📝 Note: Call and text attributes will be automatically selected. MNTN will only track the event types you are actively tracking in your CallRail account.


  4. Authorize your CallRail API key through Fivetran.


    ⚠️ Warning: Follow the instructions on this page. Fivetran's Setup Guide doesn't reflect the correct steps for this integration.


    1. Sign in to CallRail.

    2. Go to Integrations.

    3. In the left navigation panel under Data Access, click API Keys.

    4. Click Create API V3 Key.

    5. Copy that key and paste it into the FiveTran connector.

    6. Click Save and Test.

  5. Return to MNTN.
    You’ll be redirected back to MNTN Integrations and should see CallRail listed as Connected.

  6. Events will occur from the moment you connect.

    Historical CallRail data predating your connection won't appear.


    📝 Note: Call and text event data from CallRail will populate in the MNTN reporting dashboard as a new conversion event filter once a MNTN-attributed call or text occurs.


For users managing more than one MNTN account:

  1. Sign in to your MNTN account.

  2. From the account dropdown in the top right, select My Account.

  3. Under My Admin in the left navigation pane, click Integrations.

  4. Search for the portfolio you want to set CallRail up for.

  5. Click Connect.

    This allows you to connect CallRail for your entire portfolio of accounts.

  6. Complete all of the steps to connect CallRail for individual advertisers above.

    This allows you to customize the integration for specific accounts within your portfolio.

View Results in Reporting

Once connected, you’ll start seeing events when they match your campaign’s attribution settings. Here are some important notes to consider:

  • Filter by Conversion Source or Type in your MNTN reports:


    💡 Pro Tip: These filters are dynamic. If no data exists in the selected range, they won’t appear.


    • Conversion Source: Filter by "CallRail"

    • Conversion Type: Filter by "Call" or "Text"

  • Adjust your Conversion Window.

    MNTN attributes call and text events from CallRail based on your selected conversion window. If you'd like to capture conversions over a longer period, you can extend this window up to 90 days. This update will apply to all conversion events tracked in MNTN.


    💡 Pro Tip: To adjust your conversion window, go to My Account > Attribution > Conversion Window.


  • Review across all dimensions.

    CallRail conversion data can be analyzed across all standard MNTN dimensions, including Creative, Geography, TV Network, and more.

  • View Conversion Details by Order ID.

    The Conversion Details report will show both site and CallRail conversions. CallRail conversions are matched to your MNTN campaign using the Order ID derived from CallRail’s Recording URL. You can locate this URL in your CallRail reporting platform.


    💡Pro Tip: CallRail conversions always start with CAL.


  • Align time zones.

    Align MNTN and CallRail time zone settings for reporting accuracy.


    💡 Pro Tip: To adjust your MNTN time zone, navigate to My Account > General > Time Zone.


Disconnect It

  1. Sign in to your MNTN account.

  2. From the account dropdown in the top right, select My Account.

  3. Under My Account in the left navigation pane, click Integrations.

  4. Next to CallRail, click Manage.

  5. Click Disconnect.

Quick Answers

Can I see MNTN results in CallRail?

It depends on the phone number used in your ads. For:

  • Generic phone numbers: you won’t see MNTN results in the CallRail dashboard.

  • Unique CallRail numbers specific to MNTN: you may see some MNTN data in CallRail.​


⚠️ Warning: CallRail will only attribute a call to MNTN if the user dials the exact unique MNTN number shown in your ad. Many users may see your ad, then search your brand online and call a different number they find. CallRail will credit the last channel source in that case.

This integration does not modify your CallRail reporting or data. Setting up a MNTN-specific tracking number must be done directly within CallRail.


Why don’t my numbers match across platforms?

This is expected behavior. The integration is one-way, sending call and text event data from CallRail to MNTN only. CallRail does not report on MNTN as a source unless the user dials a unique MNTN phone number from CallRail that is shown directly in the ad.

MNTN, on the other hand, uses raw CallRail event data and matches it to audiences exposed to your TV ads. This gives you a more complete view of how your media influenced the call, even if the user didn’t dial the ad’s number.

Will this affect my current CallRail setup?

Not at all. This integration runs alongside your existing CallRail configuration and does not overwrite or alter your current settings.

How does MNTN attribute a call or text to a MNTN campaign?

If a call or text event is linked to a user whose IP address was served a MNTN ad, watched it in full, and took action (called or texted) within your account’s designated conversion window, it will be attributed as a MNTN conversion.
