Overview

MNTN's Macro-Enabled Impression Tracking, part of the Creative Tracking feature, lets you append your third-party impression URLs as macro-enabled impression tags to track MNTN ad impressions seamlessly within your third-party measurement platform.

Depending on your business needs, you can leverage these tags across all campaign ads or add your impression URLs to individual ads/campaigns for flexible data collection.

Formatting Requirements

In addition to the macros, your third-party webhook impression tracking URLs must meet the following requirements to function as a MNTN Macro-Enabled Impression Tracking tag:

Accepted

Unaccepted

Apply Macro-Enabled Impression Tracking Tags

Learn when, how, and where to effectively append your third-party impression URLs to track MNTN ad impressions within your third-party measurement platform.

Advertiser-Level:

To ensure that all your MNTN ad units and campaigns' impression data flow smoothly to your third-party measurement platform, we recommend appending your impression URLs at the advertiser-level within the Creative Tracking tab as shown below.

If you append your third-party impression URLs at the advertiser level, your impression tags will then default across all of your creatives in every one of your MNTN campaigns, eliminating the need for manual configuration.

If you wish to exclude specific creatives or campaigns from sending impression data to your third-party measurement platform, you can deactivate default tags at the creative level.

There are two ways to implement advertiser-level macro-enabled impression tracking tags: from the creative tracking section or your campaign shell.

From the Creative Tracking Section

πŸ’‘ Pro Tip: For simplicity, we recommend appending your tags here.

  1. Select My Account from your dashboard's top-right menu.

  2. On the left-hand side, click Creative Tracking.

  3. Click on the Default Impression Tracking tab at the top of the section.

  4. Place your macro-enabled impression tags in the Default Macro-Enabled Impression Tracking section.

  5. Click Save Changes.

To place another macro-enabled impression tag, click the + Add New button.

πŸ“ Note: There is no limit to the number of macro-enabled impression track tags you can append.

From your Campaign Shell

  1. Navigate to the Video Creative step of your campaign shell.

  2. On your video ad, select the Impression Tracking field from the Tracking Parameters section.

  3. Click the Manage Account Defaults button.

You'll be navigated to the Creative Tracking dashboard.

  4. Place your macro-enabled impression tags in the Default Macro-Enabled Impression Tracking section.

  5. Click Save Changes.

To place another macro-enabled impression tag click the + Add New button and repeat steps.

πŸ“ Note: URL formatting is case-sensitive. If your URL needs capitalization, contact the Platform Experience team via a support request.

Creative-Level:

If you plan to use your third-party impression URLs exclusively for one particular creative or campaign, we recommend implementing them on your individual ads, what we refer to as creative-level tracking.

This decision guarantees you only send impression data for the specific creatives and campaigns to which these tags are linked.

πŸ“ Note: MNTN does not generate impression URLs/tags. A third-party vendor must provide all impression tags.

If you only want to use a macro-enabled impression tag for a specific campaign or even just one of your creatives, you can handle that easily:

  1. Navigate to the Video Creative step of your campaign shell.

  2. On your desired video ad, select the Impression Tracking field from the Tracking Parameters section.

  3. Navigate to the Impression Tracking field.

  4. Enter your third-party platform's impression tag.

To place another macro-enabled impression tag at the creative-level, select the + Add New button and repeat steps.

  5. Click Done.

Disable Advertiser-Level Impression Tracking

Even if you've set up advertiser-level impression tracking, you don't have to use it for every creative in your account. You can easily toggle off all your default tags as follows:

  1. Navigate to the Video Creative step of your campaign shell.

  2. Select your desired video ad on the Video Creative step.

  3. Select the Impression Tracking field.

  4. Toggle the Use Account Defaults OFF.

πŸ“ Note: If Use Account Default is toggled off, all the tags appended in your Creative Tracking dashboard will be toggled off.

  5. Click Done.

Delete Default Tracking Tags

Suppose your third-party measurement platform provided you with updated macro-enabled impression tags, or maybe your team no longer works with your third-party measurement platform.

Easily remove the Default Macro-Enabled Impression tags by completing the following:

  1. Select My Account from your dashboard's top-right dropdown menu.

  2. On the left-hand side, click Creative Tracking.

  3. Navigate to the default impression tag you no longer wish to utilize.

  4. Select the red trash can icon next to the associated impression tag; OR

Select Delete All to remove all of your account's uploaded impression tags.

  5. Click Save Changes.
