Seamlessly define your Google Analytics UTMs with Google Analytics Visit Tracking.

As a part of our Google Analytics integration, MNTN will automatically generate a Google Analytics site-served tracking tag for your MNTN ads.

The generated site-served tracking tag includes the following:

  • the visit URL your team defined on the TV ad

  • ? (our tech automatically appends a "?" between the inputted visit URL and UTMs)

  • the below UTM parameters

https://[your visit URL]/?utm_campaign=[your appended campaign name]&utm_medium=performance_tv&utm_source=mntn

Though we auto-populate these 3 UTMs on your behalf, you can make edits as you see fit! We just recommend leaving source defined as MNTN for a seamless analysis when referencing performance within your GA dashboard.

Auto-Populated UTM Parameter

Description

utm_campaign=[your appended campaign name]

The specific campaign name you've appended within the MNTN platform.

utm_medium=performance_tv

The advertising channel (ie: Performance TV)

utm_source=mntn

Identify the partner that is sending traffic to your property (ie: MNTN)

Though UTMs content and term aren't auto-populated within MNTN's generated Google Analytics tag, simply leverage the two by defining the corresponding fields.

UTM Parameter

Description

utm_term

Used to further differentiate your creative or campaign efforts in some way (ie: seasonal effort, sale, promo, etc)

utm_content

Typically used to differentiate ads within a campaign

Once your desired values are inputted into those fields, select the blue Done button in the bottom-right corner. At that point, a new site-served tracking tag will be appended to your TV ad and its linked Multi-Touch group, should your team choose to launch with MNTN Multi-Touch.

MNTN will transmit the above site-served tracking tag alongside all other relevant verified visit data as a hit to Google Analytics using the Measurement Protocol API.

You can adjust these UTM parameters to your liking, which will adjust the values MNTN transmits to your Google Analytics dashboard when a verified visit occurs.

πŸ’‘Note: Any changes to these UTM values will not be updated retroactively for live or previously live creatives.
