MNTN Custom Report Builder

The MNTN Custom Report Builder is a visual design tool for custom reports. You're able to use the Custom Report Builder to:

  • Customize any existing, templated report in the UI.

  • Create brand new reports from scratch.

Widgets are the foundation of custom reports and allow you to create powerful visuals that are custom to your needs. Widgets include data points, meters, donut charts, bar graphs, line graphs, and tables.

Follow the steps below to create a custom report:

  1. To begin, select + New Report in the top-left corner of your dashboard.

  2. Once clicked, you'll be prompted to Select a Template.

    1. Blank Template allows you to start entirely from scratch.

    2. Or, select a pre-existing report as a template and customize it from there.

  3. Select the template you wish to work off of, rename it in the top-left corner, and then click the blue Create Report button in the top-right.

  4. Once complete, you will be brought to the new report in the My Reports section of your dashboard. You'll then see an Edit Report button on the report, allowing you to make your desired edits.

Editing Your Widgets

Available Widgets

A widget is the foundation of customization in the MNTN Custom Report builder. It determines how the dataset is presented or visualized. You can leverage the following widgets within the Custom Report Builder:

Widget

Function

Text

Allows you to add text to serve as headers for organizing your data or to define specific metrics or widgets.

Data

Allows you to add summarized metrics. Examples include Cost per Completed View, Cost per Visit, Total Verified Visits, Total Conversions, Cost per Acquisition, etc.

Table

Allows you to visualize your dataset by way of a table. By default, tables will include a summary and detail tab.

Meter

Allows you to visualize a percentage or measure two values against each other.

Maps

Allows you to visualize different performance metrics across different geographic regions.

Pie Chart

Allows you to visualize your dataset as a pie chart. This is best used when analyzing creative performance.

Area Chart

Allows you to visualize your dataset by way of an area chart. It combines a line chart and a bar chart to show changes in quantities over your defined date range.

Line Chart

Allows you to visualize your dataset as a line chart. This is best used when analyzing a specific data point over a defined date range.

Bar Chart

Allows you to visualize your dataset as a bar chart. This is best used when analyzing creative performance.

Stacked Bar Chart

Allows you to visualize an individual data point's proportional contribution compared to a total.

Combo Chart

Allows you to visualize your dataset by way of a combo

chart.

πŸ’‘Note: A table's Summary tab details how an individual line item performed over the defined date range. A table's Detail tab presents the table's data day over day across the defined date range.

Defining Your Widget's Data and Appearance

Data Tab

Once your widget is selected, you'll need to define the desired dataset via the Data tab.

Selection

Function

Visualized On

Examples

Dimension (also seen as Filtering Dimension)

A dataset's qualitative attribute.

All widgets

Advertiser, Campaign, Conversion, Geo, Publisher, TV Network, etc.

Summarize By

How you want to summarize the data points when Enable Tabs is disabled.

Table widget

Day, State, City, etc.

Metric (also seen as Metric 1, Metric 2)

A dataset's quantitative attribute.

Data, Table, Meter, widgets

Cost per Completed View, Cost per Visit, Total Verified Visits, Total Conversions, Cost per Acquisition, etc.

Portaling

Allows you to click any data widget on the report to instantly plot that dataset on the widget. Clicking the dataset again will reset the widget to its default metric.

Maps, Pie Chart, Area Chart, Line Chart, Bar Chart widgets

State

Allows you to select the state you'd like on the Maps widget.

Maps widget

Alabama, California, New York, etc.

Left Axis

The dataset you'd like reflected on the chart's Y-axis.

Area Chart, Line Chart, Bar Chart, Stacked Bar Chart, Combo Chart widgets

Total Conversions, Total Verified Visits, ROAS, etc.

Right Axis

The dataset you'd like reflected on the chart's X-axis.

Area Chart, Line Chart, Bar Chart, Stacked Bar Chart, Combo Chart widgets

Total Spend, Visit Rate, etc.

Appearance Tab

The Appearance tab allows you to further customize the widget's visualization. Depending on the widget type, you could see a combination of the following options within the tab:

Selection

Function

Visualized On

Light | Dark

Allows you to change the widget's background color - either white or black.

Text widget

Title

Allows you to change the title of the dataset.

All widgets

Display Delta: off/on

Compares the previous period of the same length based on your selected date range. For example, a 'last 30 days' report will display the change from the 30 days prior to that.

Data widget

Show Totals

Adds a line item totaling the column's values.

Table widget

Enable Tabs: off/on

Removes/adds the Summary and Detail tabs.

Table widget

Visualization: Normal | (Compact or Minimal)

Allows you to adjust the dataset's size within the widget.

Line Chart, Bar Chart, Stacked Bar Chart, and Combo Chart widgets

Display Legend: off/on

Allows you to add a legend to your Maps widget.

Maps widget

Hide Zero Values: off/on

Filters out any data from the chart with a value of zero.

Pie Chart, Area Chart, Line Chart, Bar Chart, Stacked Bar Chart, and Combo Chart widgets

Legend Placement: Bottom | Right

Allows you to place the legend on the right or at the bottom of the widget.

Pie Chart widget

Quick Look: off/on

Exposes a dropdown menu on the widget that allows you to quickly change the metric being plotted on the chart.

Area Chart, Line Chart, Bar Chart, Stacked Bar Chart widgets

Sort Metric(s): Off | Asc | Dsc

Allows you to decide how you'd like the dataset ordered:

  • Off: the dataset is day over day

  • Asc: the dataset is categorized in ascending order

  • Dsc: the dataset is categorized in descending order

Bar Chart and Stacked Bar Chart widgets

Orientation: Vertical | Horizontal

Allows you to decide the direction in which the bar chart is visualized.

Bar Chart ad Stacked Bar Chart widgets

Percentage Toggle: off/on

Exposes a toggle on the widget that lets you quickly view your data as a percentage.
