Overview

As a part of the Creative Tracking feature, MNTN's Macro-Enabled Visit Tracking allows you to seamlessly integrate MNTN’s Verified Visit reporting with your third-party measurement platform.

Your team can attach third-party webhook URLs across all creative assets in your MNTN campaigns, or to specific MNTN campaigns and creatives. This allows you complete flexibility in determining the MNTN data relayed to your third-party measurement platform.

Formatting Requirements

In addition to Dynamic Macros, your third-party webhook visit tracking URL must meet the following requirements to function as a MNTN macro-enabled visit tracking tag:

Accepted

Tag Types

Unaccepted

Tag Types

Supported Destination Tracking Servers

Valid URL Strings.

**The URL must return an HTTP 200 code when it's called.

  • Standard UTM Tags

  • Macros that do not match the MNTN Tracking Service syntax seen above.

  • iFrame tags

  • Javascript tags

  • Image Tags

  • VAST tags

Apply Macro-Enabled Visit Tracking URLs

MNTN's Macro-Enabled Visit Tracking is only compatible with third-party platforms that support webhook tracking tags.

Advertiser-Level:

If your team wants to guarantee that all verified visit data generated by your MNTN campaigns is transmitted to your third-party measurement platform, please consider inputting your third-party webhook URLs at the advertiser level.

Once your third-party webhook URLs are appended as an MNTN macro-enabled visit tracking tag, the tags will be automatically applied to all of your creatives in every campaign—new and existing.

💡 Pro Tip: This eliminates manual setup and ensures you effortlessly transmit verified visit data from all your MNTN ads to your third-party measurement platform.

If there are specific creatives or campaigns you'd prefer not to send data to your third-party measurement platform, you can deactivate the default settings at the creative level.

There are two ways to implement advertiser-level macro-enabled visit tracking tags; from the:

  1. creative tracking section

  2. campaign shell

From the Creative Tracking section

💡 Pro Tip: For simplicity, we recommend appending your tags here.

  1. Select My Account from your dashboard's top-right dropdown menu.

  2. On the left-hand side, select Creative Tracking.

  3. Place your webhook URLs in the Default Macro-Enabled Visit Tracking section.

  4. Click Save Changes.

  5. To place another macro-enabled visit URL, click the + Add New button and repeat steps 3 and 4.

📝 Note: There is no limit to the number of macro-enabled visit tracking URLs you can append.

From your Campaign shell

  1. Navigate to the Video Creative step of your campaign shell.

  2. On your desired video ad, select the Visit Tracking field from the Tracking Parameters section.

  3. Navigate to the Macro-Enabled Visit Tracking tab and click Set Up Account Defaults.

You'll be navigated to the Creative Tracking dashboard.

  4. Navigate to the Default Macro-Enabled Visit Tracking field.

  5. Enter your webhook URLs.

  6. Click Save Changes.

To place another macro-enabled visit URL, click the + Add New button and repeat steps.

Creative-Level:

If you intend to use your third-party webhook URLs exclusively for a single creative or campaign, append these tags directly to that creative within your desired campaign—what we refer to as creative-level tracking.

This choice ensures that you send MNTN verified visit data solely for the creatives and campaigns to which your tag is attached.

📝 Note: URL formatting is case-sensitive. If your URL needs capitalization, contact the Platform Experience team through a support request.

If you only want to use a third-party webhook for a specific campaign or even just one of your creatives, you can handle that easily:

  1. On your video ad, select the Visit Tracking field from the Tracking Parameters section.

  2. Navigate to the Creative-level Visit Tracking field.

  3. Enter your third-party platform's webhook URL.

To place another macro-enabled visit URL at the creative level, click the Add New button.

  4. Click Done.

Delete Default Tags

Suppose your third-party measurement platform provided you with updated webhook URLs or maybe your team no longer works with your third-party measurement platform.

Easily remove old webhook URLs by completing the following:

  1. Select My Account from your dashboard's top-right dropdown menu.

  2. On the left-hand side, select Creative Tracking.

  3. Navigate to the webhook URL you no longer wish to utilize.

  4. Click the red trash can icon next to the associated URL; OR

Click Delete All to remove all of your account's uploaded webhook URLs.

  5. Click Save Changes.

Disable Account-Wide Tracking

Even if you've set up account-wide visit tracking, you don't have to use it for every creative in your account. You can easily toggle off all of your default tags as follows:

  1. Within your campaign shell, select your desired video ad on the Video Creative step.

  2. Select the Visit Tracking field on that ad.

  3. Head to the Macro-Enabled Visit Tracking field.

  4. Toggle the Use Account Defaults OFF.

📝 Note: If Use Account Default is toggled OFF, all the tags appended in your Creative Tracking dashboard will be toggled OFF.

  5. Click Done.
