iOS Calendar Push is in the House!
We are very glad to introduce another push format, Calendar Push, exclusive for iOS devices.
Check out our guide below, to find out all you need to know about this new push format, so you can start using it right away to your advantage.
So, first things first, what is Calendar Push?
Special push for the iOS Calendar app
iOS Calendar Push is a special push format that allows you to send ads via push notifications to iOS devices through the Calendar application.
Gotta subscribe
Like web push (regular push format), it uses a subscription-based model, so users have to sign-up for a calendar opt-in subscription.
After subscribing, the users are then eligible to receive Calendar push ads.
Keeps audience engaged
When you send an ad, the user will receive a notification and it will appear as an upcoming event on the user's calendar.
As the event gets closer, the user will receive further notifications and be kept engaged.
How it appears
The ad appears as a Calendar event, just showing the title for the ad. Once you click on the ad’s title, this will take you to the Calendar event where you can have a brief description of the ad and where your URL will be available.
Once the users click on the URL, they will be taken to your landing page.
Now you know what it is, here’s some more important info and tips:
Your audience will be of 90% iOS users
The audience for this push format consists almost only of iOS users or of iPhone users. Thus, the available audience generally has a lot more disposable income.
There are no recorded deliveries
As there is no image load, there is no pixel that is recorded when a user receives the ad. The result is that only clicks can be recorded and deliveries will always appear 0.
Longer intervals between clicks and deliveries
Because the ad appears as an upcoming event, users can click on it anytime before, during, or after the event.
This means that you can sometimes receive clicks up to three days after the original delivery.
However, you will not be charged for any click after 72 hours after the original delivery.
Budget overspends are very likely
But, because of these longer intervals between clicks and deliveries, there is a greater risk of going over your budget. With clicks coming up to 3 days after the ad delivery, it's difficult to accurately estimate how much you will actually spend, and it’s quite possible for you to spend up to 200%-300% of your estimated daily budget.
Naturally, as this new push format settles in the market and we get more data on it it will be easier to make more precise budget estimations and to minimize overspends.
Fast landing pages
Just as with push ads, Calendar push performs much better with fast-loading landing pages. Also, we advise you to optimize your landing pages for iOS devices like iPhones, which have Safari as their default browser.
No need to be browsing
Just like push ads, Calendar push ads are sent directly to users' devices regardless of them being browsing the internet or not. Therefore, Calendar push has enormous reach when compared to other formats (like in-page push), that are only shown when a user is surfing the web and visits a specific website.
Choose your title wisely
Considering there is no special visual appeal such as an icon or an image, the title and description you use in your Calendar push are of the utmost importance.
However, you can still use some visual aids, like emojis, to bring more attention to your ad and to boost the CTR.
Lowest CPAs for iOS
So far, Calendar push has given us the lowest CPA for iOS traffic. This new attention-grabbing format pulls more interest from iOS users compared to other formats, resulting in higher CRs and lower CPAs.
And lastly, which offers work best & how to run a Calendar push campaign?
As mentioned, this push format is still very new, there is still a lot to be tested on it but, so far, we are already seeing a lot of success.
Because iOS users generally have more disposable income, so more expensive offers, and leads have a good return. Additional iOS traffic is more available in tier-1 and tier-2 countries.
Here is a list of the types of offers that have had the best results.

Anti-virus
