Using Bluetooth microphones to dictate with Mobius Conveyor

You can use an external microphone that is connected to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch to dictate. If your phone is connected to a Bluetooth microphone (we recommend AirPods), Conveyor will automatically use it for dictation.

Aside from Apple AirPods, Bluetooth LE-enabled microphones are relegated to a lower quality (codec and bitrate) audio profile that is defined within the published Bluetooth audio stack of Apple's iOS. Since Apple AirPods are manufactured by Apple, they have access to high-quality data formats on iOS and the resulting audio is substantially more clear. Other Bluetooth microphones deliver sub-par transcription results, currently. We anticipate Apple will release broad support for the new Bluetooth LE Audio profile in a future update of iOS. Once this is released, you will need a compatible microphone or headset to take advantage of it.

Please note, to dictate with Mobius Conveyor, you do need an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch) with WiFI or cellular data, which serves as the smart microphone to dictate into any computer. For providers who prefer not to use their iPhone or iPad and/or prefer to have a dedicated microphone device, we highly recommend using an iPod Touch with just a WiFi connection that you can treat as a stationary microphone.

In the event that you wish to remain connected to a Bluetooth headset, but you do not want the headset to be used for dictation with Mobius, you can go to Mobius Conveyor Settings, and select "Prefer Device Microphone".
