Live now: 1.1.8 OTA

The October 14 update is live. No additional app-store download is needed for this over-the-air patch if you’re already on a compatible app version.

  1. Open Mochi while connected to the internet and let it finish loading so the update can download in the background.

  2. Fully close Mochi by swiping it away from your recent apps.

  3. Reopen Mochi to apply the downloaded update.

If you’re using an older app version, install the latest version available in the App Store or Google Play first.

New features & improvements

Characters & looks

  • Coach’s scene drafts can now include up to 6 characters, matching the scene editor’s limit. Larger casts may still mix up faces, so use them with care.

  • Characters can now have up to 8 looks: one default and seven alternatives.

  • Added clearer error messages when a character cannot be added to a series.

Studio

  • Added free scene preview images, clearer render-time estimates, and a Retry button with a loading indicator.

  • Improved location tiles and shortened scene summaries.

Watching

  • Removed the three-episode web limit for published community series.

Bug fixes

Scenes & dialogue

  • Fixed cases where dialogue formatting caused spoken lines to be treated as silent action.

  • Updated render preparation to preserve approved dialogue and better protect your scene’s actions.

  • Improved handling of delivery notes such as “whispering” and “in Spanish.”

  • Speech and length checks now happen before charging Gems. If a line’s speaker is unclear, Mochi asks for clarification before rendering.

Studio & saved work

  • Improved episode reopening and scene targeting, including the first scene of a new episode.

  • Fixed cases where a delayed Coach reply switched you back to a board you’d already left.

  • Improved draft visibility and how the next episode starts, reducing empty drafts that made episode numbering confusing.

  • Fixed episode-download compatibility issues that prevented some downloads from playing on phones.

Characters & looks

  • Removing a library character from a series now preserves its paid series-only looks.

  • Blank or placeholder designs now ask for more detail instead of generating placeholder artwork.

Gems & purchases

  • Improved purchase recovery when account confirmation arrives shortly after the purchase.

  • Removed a purchase-processing hold that could keep the Gem store locked after Gems had already arrived.

  • Future Gem-pack refund deductions stop at zero instead of creating a negative Gem balance.

This does not automatically clear an existing negative balance or restore every past missing purchase. Contact support if your account still needs a review.

Captions & app performance

  • Improved caption translation for scenes that mix languages.

  • Reduced unnecessary Studio requests when opening the app.

The caption improvement applies when captions are generated. Existing published captions may need regeneration; refreshing the app does not rewrite them.

Still in progress

Other previously promised updates and remaining fixes are still pending. We appreciate everyone’s patience while we keep working through them.

Special thanks to Robert for pushing these updates out for y’all 💚
