🤝 Our Commitments to You
Our goal is to set you up for long-term success throughout your mentoring journey, and to create an enjoyable, fun environment to share how you implement our model. We promise to...
Respect your capacity, and step in where needed. We aim to honor the capacity you share with us in the mentor surveys. Life happens, so if you need to pause mentoring for any reason or if you've had any disrespectful interactions with mentees, please let us know ASAP (mentorship@modernclassrooms.org) and our team will step in to support you. We will work with you to offboard your mentees or determine a transition plan.
Pay you promptly, at the start of each month, for the prior month’s work. We will pay you at the start of each month through our payment system, Bill.com. We might follow up with you via email to clarify specific time entries in order to move forward with approved payments.
Answer your questions quickly when they arise. First, our aim is to offer you with the resources you need to succeed, such as this Mentor Manual, helpful resource links, exemplars, our web-bot Help Center on our website and Moodle, and our #mentors-only Slack community. If you've consulted the available resources and still have a question, or if you have a personal concern, reach out to us at mentorship@modernclassrooms.org for staff support. Please avoid sending questions directly to individual staff member email accounts, so we can ensure your message is addressed promptly.
Offer ongoing professional development and community meetings/events. We strive to provide high-quality professional development to our educators and to our mentors! This can look like Mentor Orientation to understand course changes ahead of sessions, webinars for edtech tools, or community meet-ups to engage with our global educators. Keep an eye out for periodic emails with these opportunities!
Ask for your feedback often. Just as we ask you to keep learning, we’re always learning too! Periodically throughout the year, we will ask you to complete a mentor experience survey. We will ask for your feedback in more informal ways, too. Without you, this movement isn’t possible - we know that your experiences and knowledge are invaluable, and they inform what we do.
Conduct periodic feedback reviews. Through our mentors, we offer the best teacher development out there. As a regular practice, our team may conduct reviews of your feedback in mentees' Course Companions. This is a routine process to uphold the quality of our programming and ensure the best mentee and mentor experience. We may provide comments on your feedback and create opportunities to help you expand your practice as a mentor.
