What We Provide for Free

As a mission-driven nonprofit, we believe deeply in providing teachers with high-quality resources for free.

We believe that any educator who takes our free online course can implement our entire model successfully, without ever paying us a dime. In fact, we encourage this! There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of educators worldwide -- including many of our Distinguished Modern Classroom Educators -- who have transformed their classrooms using only this free course.

In addition to the free course, we provide and maintain:

If you can better meet your students' needs using these free resources alone, we'll be thrilled!

Our Paid Programs

Over time, and by popular demand, we've realized that many educators benefit from additional support in the challenging process of classroom transformation. Educators worldwide have asked us to provide the following:

  • 30-minute expert consultations ($45) with experienced Modern Classroom educators. These are available on demand, and provide an excellent opportunity for interested teachers to ask questions personal to their own schools or students.

  • Virtual Mentorship Program ($750), in which educators are paired with our Expert Modern Classroom Mentors, to receive personalized coaching, feedback on lesson materials, access to our private network of Modern Classroom educators, and graduate credits. Educators may enroll during the school year or over the summer, depending on their preferences.

For interested schools and districts, we also offer Partnerships, in which cohorts of educators enroll and complete our Virtual Mentorship Programs together.

We've found over time that educators greatly appreciate the support our mentors provide:

  • The average rating of our programs is well above 9/10.

  • Over 95% of educators would recommend our programs to a colleague.

We believe these paid programs provide an excellent supplement to the materials presented in our free online course.

Why We Charge

Providing teachers with personalized support comes at a cost. We use the money we collect to:

  • Pay our Expert Mentors what they're worth: Our mentors are experienced teachers who have demonstrated their ability to implement our instructional model successfully, and whom we've trained to provide high-quality coaching and support. They spend hours reviewing each mentee's work, giving detailed feedback, and providing wisdom and encouragement through coaching calls. It's essential to us that we can compensate them fairly for their time -- they start at $50/hour -- and that we can continue to recruit our best educators as mentors.

  • Provide mentees access to classroom-tested tools. When an educator needs a tool for recording or enhancing instructional videos, we'll gladly provide premium access to ScreenPal. We also use a more sophisticated online platform for our Mentorship Program course, which allows for easy submission of work, tracking of progress, and feedback on submissions.

  • Continue to support educators who implement. Our Mentorship Programs don't simply end when the course is complete. Instead, successful graduates join our private Educator Commons, where they receive ongoing support and training. Investing in ongoing support helps these teachers continue to thrive.

Ultimately, as a nonprofit organization, we invest every dollar we make into improving our programming for educators. We hope that that, whether you join our Mentorship Program or not, you'll find something in our work that helps you respond to every student's needs.
