The Modern Classrooms Project is and has always been a teacher-led movement. We welcome educators who want to become leaders in their own schools, districts, and communities!

Here are seven ways you can help spread blended, self-paced, mastery-based practices... and earn rewards in the process:

Present Modern Classrooms

We encourage teachers to share our model and resources with their departments, schools, and districts, and have created a set of sample presentation materials that educators can customize to meet their community's needs. You never know what a small presentation can spark!

Lead a PLC

The Modern Classrooms Project was born out of a Professional Learning Community — two teachers working together to find common solutions. To support you in sharing our model with your own colleagues, we offer draft meeting slides and agendas for PLC Leaders. We encourage you to customize these for your own school community.

Become a Distinguished Modern Classroom Educator

Distinguished Modern Classroom Educators (DMCEs) successfully implement our blended, self-paced, mastery-based model to meet each of their student's needs.

Educators apply to become DMCEs by submitting portfolios of their Modern Classroom work, which we assess using our Implementation Rubric. Upon certification, each DMCE receives:

  • Credentials. Digital badge, certificate of completion, resume language, listing in our network of DMCEs worldwide, and 1 graduate credit from CSU Pueblo.

  • Edtech Subscription. Premium lifetime subscriptions to ScreenPal and Edpuzzle.

  • Swag. A limited-edition Distinguished Educator backpack — for free!

DMCEs are also eligible to become Expert Modern Classroom Mentors, whom we train (and pay) to empower future Modern Classroom educators.

Empower Your Peers as an Expert Mentor

Expert Modern Classroom Mentors are educators who support their peers in adopting blended, self-paced, mastery-based practices. They train future Modern Classroom educators to meet every student’s needs.

To apply to be an Expert Mentor, one must first be a Distinguished Modern Classroom Educator. Educators who are accepted as Expert Mentors receive:

  • Personalized training and support to become an effective teacher mentor.

  • Competitive hourly pay ($50+/hour) for remote, flexible mentoring work.

  • Digital badge, resume language, and 1 graduate credit from CSU Pueblo.

Expert Mentors can earn $10,000+ per year while empowering educators worldwide, and helping grow the Modern Classrooms movement. To become a mentor, you must first become one of our Distinguished Educators.
