When you log in to your account from a new device or location, you may receive a login notification showing the approximate location of the login.
Why is the location sometimes different from where I am?
The location shown in the notification is based on the IP address used for the connection. IP-based geolocation is approximate and may not always match your actual location.
For example, your internet provider or mobile network may route your connection through another city or location. As a result, the notification may show a different city from where you are physically located.
Seeing an unfamiliar city in the notification does not necessarily mean that someone else has accessed your account.
What should I do if I don't recognize the login?
First, check whether you recognize the:
Date and time of the login
Device used
Browser or operating system, if shown
If you recognize the device and the login time, the different location is likely due to the limitations of IP-based geolocation.
If you do not recognize the login or device, we recommend changing your password as a precaution and contacting support if you are concerned about the security of your account.
Is my account at risk?
A different location by itself does not mean that your account has been compromised. The location displayed in a login notification is only an approximate indication based on the network connection used for the login.
