Moonbird’s wake & shake feature lets you use it without your phone — ideal when you’re in bed or want a calm moment without screens. This feature is particularly useful in situations where a phone is unavailable or undesired, offering convenience and flexibility.

Here’s how it works:

  • Shake your moonbird gently to wake it up. A green LED near the sensor will light up.

  • Want to start a connected session in the app? Don’t place your thumb on the sensor yet.

  • Want to start a standalone session? Place your thumb on the sensor — your moonbird will begin the saved breathing exercise. The session will use the default settings downloaded onto the device during the initial app setup, ensuring it operates correctly offline.

To set or change your standalone exercise: Only the selected default exercise will be available during offline use.

  • Open the app

  • Connect your moonbird

  • Go to the “Breathe” tab

  • Choose your preferred exercise and duration

  • Check box "default exercise"

  • It will be saved directly to your device Once saved, this becomes the only exercise accessible for offline sessions.

Important: If wake & shake doesn’t seem to work, check whether travel mode is turned on in the app. In that mode, moonbird only activates when it detects a very clear heartbeat. Switch it off to restore normal sensitivity. If moonbird is still connected to the app, standalone mode won’t start. In that case, close the app completely and wait about 30 seconds before trying again. Additionally, note that no biofeedback data, such as breathing metrics or session improvements, will be recorded during offline sessions.
