Accessing Sharesight on Morningstar
To access your Sharesight portfolio through Morningstar, follow these steps:
Click on Track Investments from the menu located on the left-hand side and select the Portfolios.
Click on “Let’s Get Started” located on the bottom left of the webpage and Initiate the Linking Process.
In the pop-up confirmation, choose Yes, proceed.
Website will give a prompt to redirect to Sharesight website ,click on “Yes, Proceed”.
If you already have Sharesight account, then enter the login details of your existing sharesight account.If you don’t have existing sharesight account, click on sign-up located on the bottom and use same email and password which is used for investor website.
Authorize Morningstar to access Sharesight.
Ensure you are using the same email address across both the Morningstar Investor and Sharesight platforms.
Verify your internet connection during the process to avoid disruptions.
You will receive a verification link on email your email inbox.
Once you have linked your ShareSight account with Morningstar Investor Australia, you can seamlessly view your portfolio details directly on the Morningstar website. This integration provides a convenient way to monitor your investments.
Sharesight Not Recognizing Your Username or Password
Ensure you are using your correct Sharesight credentials (username and password) to log in.
If you haven’t created a Sharesight account yet, select the Sign Up option in Sharesight and register using the same email address associated with your Morningstar Investor account.
After creating an account or logging in, return to Morningstar Investor to authorize and complete the linking process.
Troubleshooting "Could Not Retrieve Access Token" Issue
The "Could not retrieve access token" error message typically appears when a user's portfolio is not yet successfully linked to Sharesight. The Morningstar Investor platform partners with Sharesight to provide enhanced portfolio management features, and linking your portfolio is a prerequisite for using these functionalities.
To resolve this issue and ensure full access to your portfolio, follow these steps to properly connect your portfolio to Sharesight:
Sign Out and Sign In: Sign out of the Morningstar website, then sign in again.
Access Portfolios: Click on "Track Investments" from the website tabs, then select "Portfolio."
Start Linking Process: Click on "Let's Get Started" and proceed to sign in to Sharesight.
Authorize and Confirm: After authorizing Morningstar to access Sharesight, you should see a green message indicating "ShareSight account linked successfully," confirming the successful connection.
Managing Existing Sharesight Subscriptions with Morningstar Premium
If you are an existing Sharesight user and subscribe to Morningstar Premium, the management of your Sharesight billing will transition as follows:
Monthly Standard Plan Users: If you are currently on a monthly Sharesight Standard plan, your billing will be directed to Morningstar starting from the following month.
Annual Plan Users: If you are on an annual Sharesight plan, Morningstar will cover your next annual payment directly.
Higher-Priced Plan Users: If your current Sharesight plan is priced higher than the Standard plan offered by Morningstar, you will be charged the difference between the cost of the Standard plan and your existing higher-priced plan.
Access Policies Upon Subscription Changes: Access to Sharesight is directly tied to an active Morningstar Investor subscription. If you cancel your Morningstar Investor subscription, your complimentary access to Sharesight Standard will also cease. To continue using Sharesight, you would need to subscribe to a Sharesight plan independently.
Billing Errors: If you notice a charge for a Sharesight Premium plan but your Morningstar Investor subscription includes Sharesight Standard, contact Sharesight to request a cancellation or correction of the invoice. If you have already paid the full Premium amount, ask Sharesight to reimburse you if that is possible and issue a new invoice reflecting only the difference, if applicable, beyond the Standard plan coverage.
Adding Holdings to Your Sharesight Portfolio
You can add holdings to your Sharesight portfolio through Morningstar by following these steps:
Go to Premium.morningstar.com.au and sign-in.
Click on Track investments from website Tabs
Click on Portfolio
Under My portfolio click on add holdings
You have three primary options for adding holdings:
Directly Through Broker: Connect your portfolio directly to a supported broker for automatic transaction imports.
Through CSV File: Upload a CSV file containing your transaction history.
Adding Trades Manually: Manually enter individual trade details.
Deleting a Portfolio in Sharesight
To delete a portfolio within Sharesight via the Morningstar platform:
Go to Premium.morningstar.com.au and sign-in.
Click on Track investments from website Tabs
Click on Portfolios located on the left of the webpage
Click on view Portfolio
Click on Manage Portfolio located on Right of the webpage
Click on Settings located on the tabs on Left of the webpage.
Scroll down click on Delete this Portfolio

Revoking Sharesight Access
If you wish to revoke Morningstar's access to your Sharesight account:
Log in directly to your Sharesight account.
Click on "My Account" located on the right side of the page.
Click on "Sharesight API" and then select "Revoke."
Manually Adding Unlisted Securities or Cash Holdings
You can manually add unlisted securities or cash holdings to your Sharesight portfolio. To do this, click on "Add Investments" (located on the top right) within your Sharesight portfolio and choose the option to create a custom investment or add a cash holding.
Upgrading Your Sharesight Plan
To upgrade your Sharesight plan directly through the Sharesight platform:
Log in to your Sharesight account.
Click on "My Account" located on the right side of the page.
Click on "Plans and Billing" and then select "Change Plan."
Making Changes to Your Portfolio
While you can view your portfolio within Morningstar Investor Australia, any modifications or changes to your investment holdings must be made directly within your ShareSight account.
To make changes to your portfolio follow the below steps:
Sign in to your Morningstar Investor Australia account.
Click on the Portfolios under "Track Investments" tab.
Your portfolio details, pulled from your linked ShareSight account, will be displayed under the "Portfolios" section. Click on "View Portfolio" for more details
From your portfolio view on the Morningstar website, click on the "Manage portfolio" button and you will be redirected to sharesight website.
Processing a Sell Transaction in Your Portfolio
To process a sell transaction for a security within your portfolio, you will need to do so directly through your linked Sharesight account. While you can view your portfolio on the Morningstar Investor website, any changes or transactions, such as selling a security, must be initiated within Sharesight.
Follow these steps to process a sell transaction in Sharesight:
Once logged in, navigate to the "Track Investment" tab.
Click on "Portfolio," then select "View Portfolio" for the specific portfolio where you want to make changes.
Click on "Manage my portfolio" to be redirected to your ShareSight account.
Once in Sharesight, click on the name of the specific security you wish to sell from your portfolio.
After selecting the security, click on the "Trades & Income" tab.
You will see an option labeled "Add Trade Or Adjustments," usually located on the right side of the page. Click on this option.
Select the appropriate "Trade Type" (e.g., "Sell") and fill in all other required details for the transaction, such as the date, quantity, and price.
After entering all the necessary information, click "Save" to finalize the sell transaction.
