Troubleshooting 101

Device Set Up

Written by Louis Ellis

I've added my device to the app, but I'm not seeing any data. What should I do?

After adding your device to our app, it requires a brief calibration period to start transmitting data accurately. This calibration process helps in fine-tuning the device's sensors and ensuring the accuracy of the information it sends. Calibration should take no longer than 5-10 minutes. If it's taking longer look below.

  • For OBD Tracker Device: If your device is an OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) tracker, it needs to receive signals from your vehicle's systems to calibrate properly. Please drive your vehicle for a few miles, ideally in an area with minimal obstructions like tall buildings or dense foliage. This drive helps the device to establish a strong GPS signal and synchronize with your vehicle's diagnostic systems. After this initial drive, the device should start transmitting data to the app.

  • For Personal Tracker: If you have a personal tracker, it requires exposure to open skies to calibrate effectively. Taking a short walk outside, away from tall buildings and trees, will allow your tracker to capture GPS signals and calibrate. A walk of just a few minutes is usually sufficient for the device to start functioning correctly.

Additional Steps:

  1. Check Connectivity: Ensure your device is within a good coverage area for 4G or whichever network it operates on. Poor signal strength can affect data transmission.

  2. Restart the Device: If calibration doesn’t solve the issue, try turning the device off and then on again. This can help reset its connection to the network and our servers.

  3. App and Software Check: Make sure the app is updated to the latest version. Also, check if the device is correctly linked to your account within the app.

  4. Battery and Power(Personal Tracker Only): Verify that the device is fully charged. Low battery levels can sometimes hinder proper operation.

  5. Fuse Box: Double check that the fuse for your OBD port isn't blown. This is a common problem with vehicles over 10 years old. If the device can't communicate with your vehicle, it won't be able to transmit your location back to our servers. Here is a video of a blown OBD port fuse for your reference (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4sOf5y3qnE&ab_channel=AutoRepairChamps). Consult your vehicle manual.

My device has a Chinese Address(OBD Only). What should I do?

By default, the device uses the address of the factory. This address should update to your correct address after activation. If the address has not updated after 5-10 minutes of driving, this usually means the device can't communicate with your vehicle. Please double check that your vehicle's OBD port fuse is not blown. This is very common on older vehicles (10 years or older).

If after following these steps, you're still not seeing any data, please contact our support team directly through the app. We're here to help diagnose and solve any issues you're encountering. Provide us with your device model and a brief description of the steps you’ve already taken. This will help us to assist you more efficiently. We appreciate your patience and are committed to ensuring your experience with our product is satisfactory.

Notes:

  1. When the car is inside buildings, cave, tunnel, or very close to tall buildings, the GPS/ GSM signal may not work well and the system may fail to work at that moment.

  2. In cloudy condition, it is a little hard to get the GPS signal, and the GPS coordinate might have some errors.

  3. Our trackers uses GPS for coordinate acquisition and cellular signal for position report transmission.

  4. GPS signal may not be acquired if the asset is indoors.
