Selling to MPB as a VAT registered business

How MPB handles VAT across EU markets

Updated over 3 weeks ago

VAT and your sale to MPB

VAT (Value Added Tax) is applied to most goods and services in the EU.

If you’re a VAT-registered business in the EU (excluding Germany) and you sell gear to MPB:

  • You don’t need to charge VAT on the sale.

  • MPB will account for VAT in Germany.

  • The standard VAT rate in Germany is 19%.

This is treated as a zero-rated intra-community supply. You invoice MPB at 0%, and MPB is responsible for reporting and paying the VAT in Germany.

In tax terms, this is handled through the reverse charge mechanism in Germany.

How to calculate the VAT-exclusive price

  1. Take your original quote (which includes VAT).

  2. Divide the total by 1.19.

  3. The result is the price MPB will pay.

Steps for selling to MPB as a VAT-registered business

1. Request a Quote

Start by submitting your gear for valuation at mpb.com.

You’ll receive a quote showing the gross value, which includes German VAT (19%).

Don’t confirm the quote until your VAT status has been updated. VAT can’t be amended after a quote is booked.

2. Tell Us You're VAT-Registered

Once your quote has been created, please contact us via chat or at contactmpb@mpb.com to inform us:

  • That you’re VAT-registered

  • Your full VAT number (we’ll validate this using the EU’s VIES system)

3. We Adjust your Quote

Once your VAT ID is added to your profile in our system:

  • Your quote will display item prices in net value

  • MPB will still pay you the net total, but you won't charge VAT

  • You won’t see VAT shown in our quote emails, but it will be reflected in the item breakdown within your MPB quote

4. Ship Your Gear to MPB

Once you've booked your quote and confirmed your VAT details we’ll provide you with a prepaid shipping label. You can choose between courier collection from your address or dropping off your gear at a designated parcel/post station, depending on your location

5. Submit a VAT-Compliant Invoice

After we’ve reviewed and accepted your gear, you’ll need to submit to contactmpb@mpb.com an invoice so we can process payment.

Your Invoice must include:
