Selling to MPB as a VAT Registered Business

Learn how MPB handles VAT for Selling & Trading in the UK

Updated this week

VAT and your sale to MPB

When you sell equipment to MPB, the price we quote is inclusive of VAT where applicable.

The current standard rate of VAT in the UK is 20%.

  • If you’re VAT-registered and obliged to charge VAT when selling your gear to MPB, the price we initially quote covers the total transaction value, including VAT.

  • If you’re not VAT-registered, VAT won’t apply and your quote will simply reflect the full amount we’ll pay you.

Example

We initially offered £120 for your item. If you let us know you are VAT registered we will update your offer to £100 for the item + £20 VAT.

Steps for selling to MPB as a VAT-registered business

1. Request a Quote

Start by submitting your gear for valuation at mpb.com. You’ll receive a quote showing the gross value

2. Tell Us You're VAT-Registered

Once your quote has been created, please respond to quote confirmation email, or you can contact our account managers directly as used@mpb.com to inform us:

  • That you’re VAT-registered

  • Your full VAT number

3. We Amend Your Quote

Once your VAT ID is added to your profile in our system:

  • MPB will still pay you the gross total

  • MPB will require an invoice detailing ex VAT, total VAT and inc VAT amounts

  • All MPB quotes marked as VAT will only show EX VAT (net) pricing once the quote has been booked for a courier

  • The final quote will also be displayed in net (ex VAT) values

For a breakdown in VAT pricing on your items please get in touch with your Account Manager or Customer Experience Advisor

4. Ship Your Gear to MPB

Once you've booked your quote and confirmed your VAT details we’ll provide you with a prepaid shipping label. You can choose between courier collection from your address or dropping off your gear at a designated parcel/post station, depending on your location

5. Submit a VAT-Compliant Invoice

After we’ve reviewed and accepted your gear, you’ll need to submit to used@mpb.com an invoice so we can process payment.
