The current IRS medical mileage rate for 2025 is 21 cents per mile.
You can send a photo or a screenshot of a mileage log, written on paper or in spreadsheet, which includes:
-Date of trip
-Starting point and ending point
-Total miles driven
-Medical purpose (e.g., “Dr. Jones appointment,” “prescription pickup”)
For the total cost, multiply the total miles driven for medical reasons by .21, and this would be the total out of pocket cost for medical transportation.
You can also included related expenses, such as parking fees and tolls.
If the SNAP office needs more information or other receipts, they will request it.
