After you submit an application, it usually takes a state around 30 days to review an application and provide a determination, unless you're eligible for emergency SNAP benefits, which takes 5-7 days.
After your application is submitted, it will be sent to your state's SNAP office. They will review the application and either send you a letter in the mail with next steps, or call you for an interview. During the interview and/or via a letter in the mail, the SNAP office will let you know what additional information or documentation they may need to process your case. After about 30 days, you should receive a letter in the mail letting you know if you were approved for SNAP, and if you are, you'll receive an EBT card in the mail with money on it to purchase food.
