Recommended Journalists
When viewing or adding a person to a Media List, Muck Rack will present you with a list of Recommended Journalists based on the people currently listed in your Media List. This enables you to broaden your network of contacts and enhance the effectiveness of your Media Lists and Pitches.

View Recommendations From a Media List
You can view Recommended Journalists from any existing Media List. Simply select the Recommended Journalists button in the top action bar and a panel will open showing recommendations for the media list you are on:
View Recommendations When Adding Contacts
When you add someone to a media list from anywhere within Muck Rack a confirmation message will appear in the lower right-hand corner (as shown above). If more than 5 contacts are on the media list you added the contact to, the confirmation message will say there are recommendations available to view.
NOTE: A Media List must already have more than 5 contacts for journalist recommendations to be given.
Add Or Dismiss Recommendations
When viewing the recommendation panel, select the Plus (+) button to add a journalist to your media list or select the X button to dismiss them.
NOTE: Each time you add or dismiss a contact, it will be replaced by a new journalist recommendation.
Regenerate Results
If you would like to dismiss the entire list and generate a new list of recommendations, you can simply select the Regenerate Results button at the bottom.

Is it possible to receive no recommendations? If so, what is displayed? | Yes, we will only display recommendations for lists that contain 5 or more journalists. A message will display “no new recommendations” and recommend that you add more people to your Media List. |
How does Muck Rack generate the recommended journalists? | Muck Rack uses a proprietary deep-learning model built in-house to analyze the relationships between journalists to recommend the most relevant journalists to you. We then apply a variety of filters that help refine those results to be as relevant as possible. |
Are Custom Contacts a part of this logic? | No. Custom Contacts are not a part of this logic. |
How many journalists are recommended at a time? Is there a range? | There will be 5 recommendations surfaced at a time. When a recommendation is added or dismissed, it will be replaced with another recommendation. |
How many times can I regenerate results? | Infinitely. |
Can a journalist opt out of appearing as a recommended journalist? | Not specifically. If a journalist is able to be found via Search they could be surfaced as a recommended journalist.
