Connecting your Instagram account to Munch Studio is essential if you want to automatically post, schedule, or manage your content through our platform.
Because Instagram is part of Meta, there are several important requirements you must meet before the integration will work correctly.
Below is a clear guide to help you set everything up smoothly.
1. Your Instagram Account Must Be a Business Account
Instagram only allows third-party platforms (like Munch Studio) to connect through Business or Creator accounts.
A personal account cannot be integrated with Meta’s API.
How to Convert Your Personal Instagram Into a Business Account
Open Instagram and go to your profile (bottom-right corner).
Tap the menu (three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner.
Select “Account type and tools”
(or go to: Settings → Account)
Tap “Switch to professional account.”
Choose Business as your account type.
Select the category that best describes your brand or company.
Follow the on-screen steps to finish the setup.
Your account is now a Business account and eligible for integration.
2. Your Instagram Account Must Be Connected to a Facebook Page
Because Instagram and Facebook use the same backend through Meta Business, the integration only works if your Instagram Business account is linked to a Facebook Page.
This is a Meta requirement — not a Munch Studio choice.
How to Link Your Instagram Account to a Facebook Page
Go to your Instagram profile.
Tap the menu (three lines) in the top-right corner.
Tap Settings > Business (or Account type and tools depending on your version).
Look for "Set up Accounts Center" or "Connected experiences".
Follow the steps to connect your Instagram to an existing Facebook Page
— or create a new Page if you don’t have one.
Once linked, Instagram and Facebook are considered part of the same business identity.
3. You Must Have Admin Permissions on Both Instagram and the Facebook Page
Even if the accounts are correctly linked, the integration will fail if your user role does not have the correct permissions.
Check Your Instagram Permissions
You must be able to manage the Instagram Business account directly.
If you are not the owner or do not have full control, request access from whoever manages the brand.
Check Your Facebook Page Permissions
You must have Admin or Full Control access on the Facebook Page connected to your Instagram.
Here’s how to confirm:
Log in to Facebook.
Switch to the Facebook Page.
Go to Settings.
Open Page Settings → Page Access or Page Roles.
Look for your name:
If it says Admin or Full Control, you’re good.
If not, you must request upgraded access from the Page owner.
Without admin-level permissions, Meta will block the connection.
Once All Requirements Are Met: Connect Instagram to Munch Studio
After completing all three steps above, go back to Munch Studio → Integrations, click ‘connect’ next to Instagram, and follow the connection prompts.
Your integration should now complete successfully.
