Release: A release is a publication that can take the form of a single, EP or album. The purpose of creating a release is to publish it on the streaming services.

Track: A track is a single audio file that can appear as a song on a music album, EP or single. Uploading a track to the Tracks page does not necessarily mean that it will be released.

The distinction between "releases" and "tracks" means that you can upload individual tracks to your "track page" independently of a release, without adding them directly to a release. This means that they do not have to be finalised and can be exchanged at any time as long as they are not part of a release.

Once a track has been uploaded to the track page and all the important information (metadata) has been filled in, you can simply add the track to an upcoming release. To do this, click on "Add existing tracks" in the release process to select from the tracks that have already been uploaded.

This feature is very useful as it allows you to easily import a prepared track into the release. All the information you have already filled in for that track will be transferred.

Basically, this separation between releases and tracks helps to use MusicHub not only as a distribution tool in the future, but also to offer additional functions.

For GEMA members, the tracks page has even greater value. From here you can activate the Soundfile Upload as well as the Work Declaration. You can find more information about GEMA integrations here.
