How do I upload my lyrics?
Important: just like our release process, there is a Style-Guide laying out the requirements to have your lyrics successfully distributed. Please bear in mind that this comes directly from the streaming services and MusicHub has no influence over these formatting requirements.
There are two different ways to upload your lyrics. Either, you can add them directly to a track on the tracks page. Or, while creating a release.
Adding your lyrics via the lyrics tab on the tracks page:
Step 1: Please read through the Lyrics Style-Guide to get an understanding for the requirements and formatting restrictions. This can be found here: https://intercom.help/music-hub/en/articles/6435713-lyrics-style-guide
Step 2: Go to your Tracks page, here you will see a microphone icon next to your tracks that are live and not instrumental.
Step 3: Click on the microphone icon to start the process. We have implemented a light guide beside the lyrics-input field to further assist you in the lyrics distribution process.
Step 4: Or you click on edit track and add your lyrics via the lyrics tab.
Step 5: Don't worry about submitting your lyrics. This will happen automatically when you submit a release that includes the track you added lyrics to.
Adding your lyrics while creating a release:
Step 1: Create a release and work your way through the points. When you get to point 3, the track list, you can upload an audio file. Once the file has been uploaded you will find a lyrics field. Click this button here:
Step 2: You can now enter the lyrics for the song. Once you hit Save & Exit, the lyrics will be assigned to that track:
Step 3: Submit your release. At the same time that we send your release to the streaming platforms, we will also send your lyrics as well. This means that the lyrics can go live around the same time as your release:
Step 4: Congratulations! You've submitted your lyrics and release for distribution!
When will my lyrics appear online?
The Quality Check is carried out by our partners for lyrics distribution. If your lyrics match all the formatting requirements of the streaming services, they will generally appear online around the same time your release goes live. Because this is carried out by our partners, this timeframe may vary.
Where will my lyrics be displayed?
Your lyrics will be displayed on Amazon Music, Apple Music, Deezer, Google, YouTube Music and over 50 other platforms! Unfortunately, Instagram & Spotify and some other platforms will not be supplied in the initial launch of the lyrics distribution tool. As soon as this changes, we will announce it in our newsletter.
