We require all student account holders to be over the age of consent, which is 18. Occasionally, we see a new enquiry message from a child, and we would ask you to watch out for these.
Please note that students must tick a box to confirm they are over 18 before sending you a message.
Sometimes, it is not clear you are speaking to a child. There can be clues, however, such as the student asking for lessons to help with a GCSE music exam. That doesn't mean the student is under 18, but as it is highly likely, clarification should be sought.
As you cannot be held responsible for any debt you owe until you reach 18, you may find that any agreement made by the child to pay for lessons will not be enforceable. There are also safeguarding issues to consider, where no parental consent has been obtained for lessons.
If you realise you are speaking to a child, please let Support know at info@musicteachers.co.uk. We will then contact the student and ask for written permission from a parent or guardian for them to continue with the enquiry.
If you have any doubts please let us know at info@musicrteachers.co.uk and we will investigate.
