A guide to lesson offers

For teachers: What is a lesson offer, why would I use it and how do I access it?

Updated over a week ago

We will look at the Lesson offer product, the benefits of using a Lesson offer and how to set up a Lesson offer for a student. If you wish to view the difference between a lesson offer and a block of lessons, please read our article on this.

What is a Lesson offer?

A Lesson offer is how a teacher can personalise lesson pricing and terms and conditions to each student. The lesson details are input prior to it being sent to the student’s dashboard for them to view.

A payment button within the offer allows the student to complete their purchase. Once paid for, the lessons are automatically added into the calendar and are ready to begin.

What are the advantages of using a Lesson offer rather than Lesson blocks?

The main reasons teachers like to use Lesson offers are:

  • You can book as many or as few lessons as you wish without being restricted to blocks of 5, 10, 20 or 40 lessons

  • You can charge different prices for different students

  • You can set your cancellation policy

  • You can set your terms and conditions

  • You can offer a free trial/consultation lesson

How can I offer a free or discounted trial lesson?

You can offer a free or discounted trial/consultation lesson with Lesson offers. You can access this:

  • From your inbox, open the student’s message and look to the left-hand side of the page. Here there is a button ‘Offer a trial lesson’

  • Input the lesson details. When you reach the fee box, you can either offer a free lesson by leaving it at £0.00 or input your desired price

  • If left at £0.00, there are no additional platform fees or service charges

You can only offer a first/trial lesson once. After a lesson has been completed, this option is removed.

How can I set up a Lesson Offer?

  • Log into your ‘Offers’ tab on your top navigation bar

  • Input the lesson details

  • When you reach the fee box, amend the fee as required. Please note, that there is a service charge of £1.00 plus 3% to be added to the fee

  • Check you are happy with the box that indicates the amount you receive

  • Ensure you have included any travel costs to be charged in the cost of the lesson. The student cannot purchase transport fees separately when using a lesson offer

  • Decide on your terms and conditions and add anything else you would like to say in the final box

  • Save the offer to send it to your student

The offer will be visible on the student’s dashboard where they can view and make the purchase. Once paid for, the lessons are automatically input into the calendar.

Important notes

  • Students are entitled to a 14-day cooling-off period. During this time they can request a full refund of the price paid. This starts from the day they make their purchase and is only completed early if a lesson is completed

  • Once a lesson has been completed, refunds can only be issued if the terms you set within the offer allow this

  • If a lesson time has passed, it cannot be refunded - please ensure all lessons are cancelled in advance and moved to an alternative date. Press the edit button on the offer to make these changes
