What is a transport fee?

A transport fee is the sum you can charge a student on top of the lesson fee if you travel to their home to teach. As no platform fees are taken from this, you will receive the full transport fee.

Why would I charge a transport fee?

If you wish to teach at a student's home, you are using your time when travelling. You may also incur travel costs such as the price of fuel or bus, train or tube tickets.

How much should I charge?

Firstly consider how much it will cost to travel to a student's home. This is a good starting guide to how much to charge that student. Transport fees are usually between £1.00 and £30.00.

How do I set a transport fee?

You can set a general transport fee on your account that will be automatically charged with each lesson booked 'At Student'. You can set this by:

You can also customise the transport fee per student if required. This can be done by:

  • Click on your 'students' tab to find the relevant student

  • Under the word Actions, click on the 3 dots

  • Choose Student Information

  • Set the customised transport fee for this student and save your choice

Transport fees can also be added, customised and removed when booking a lesson on the lesson booking page. Use the fee box to make any alternations to the price of the transport fee.

Top Tip: Remember to inform your students they will need to purchase transport fees and how much this costs on top of the lesson fee.
