What is a transport fee?

A transport fee is the sum a teacher can charge a student on top of the lesson fee when they travel to your home to teach.

Why would your teacher charge a transport fee?

If you wish your teacher to visit your home, they use their time when travelling. They may also incur travel costs such as the price of fuel or bus, train or tube tickets.

How much do transport fees cost?

Transport fees are usually between £1.00 and £30.00 per lesson.

How do I pay for a transport fee?

You can purchase transport fees from your account by:

  • On your dashboard, scroll down to the box with your teacher's name and image

  • To the right of these details, you will see 2 buttons - a red one to purchase lessons and a white one to purchase transport fees.

  • You can use the drop-down arrow to choose the number of transport fees to purchase

Top Tip: It is best practice to purchase the same number of transport fees as the number of lessons you have in your student account. This will eliminate any issues if you forget to pay for a transport fee before the lesson.

Lessons held at a student's home are not 'confirmed' until a transport fee has been purchased. It could cause your lesson to be automatically cancelled 2 hours before your lesson due to non-payment if no corresponding transport fee is in place.
