We understand that selecting a DNA testing kit involves careful consideration, and we're committed to supporting you at every stage, ensuring your journey through DNA testing is as stress-free as possible.
How can I determine the most suitable DNA test for my specific situation?
Choosing a test can be determined by a number of factors, including:
Whether all participants are comfortable with a cheek swab, or if a private DNA test using discreet samples is required.
The total number of individuals being tested.
The exact relationship you're looking to confirm.
If all participants live in the same location.
We understand that choosing the right test can be challenging, which is why we've created a short quiz to help guide you to the most appropriate option for your circumstances. You're invited to take the quiz here:

Why should I choose My Forever DNA instead of any other testing service?
As an established entity in the DNA testing industry, My Forever DNA boasts a strong track record and consistently receives 5-star reviews. You can find out what makes us different to others in our About My Forever DNA article.
Is it possible to keep a DNA test private?
If you're wondering if it's possible to conduct a DNA test discreetly, without anyone else's knowledge or you're interested in using DNA samples, like a toothbrush or hair, to maintain privacy... The answer is yes, there are multiple alternative and discreet DNA sample options you can use instead of the standard cheek swab.β¨
With years of experience & testing thousands of samples, we've pinpointed the most successful alternatives to the traditional cheek swabs. These include using a Toothbrush, Hair from a hairbrush (or both the hair and the brush itself), and Earwax on a cotton swab/Q-tip. Given that the ease of collecting samples can differ, we also provide the following options:
Diabetic test strips
Nail clippings (finger or toe)
Used Kleenex
Blood stain (dry blood)
Well worn hats, or bandanas
Hearing aid
Gum
Cigarette butts
Razor
Dental floss
Sperm/semen on a cotton pad
Used condom
It is important to note that a sufficient sample must be collected to ensure the DNA test can be carried out. The success rate depends on the quality of the alternative DNA sample provided.
What if the alleged fathers are closely related (e.g. brothers, cousins, or father/son)?
When the alleged fathers are closely related, such as brothers, cousins, or a father and son scenario, it's ideal to include both alleged fathers in the test along with the biological mother for the most accurate results. However, we understand that it may not always be possible to test both parties. In such cases, testing even one of the alleged fathers can still provide conclusive results to determine or exclude paternity. Our advanced testing methods are designed to handle complex situations, ensuring reliable outcomes.
Is it possible to determine paternity if the suspected fathers are twins?
If the suspected fathers are identical twins, determining which twin is the biological father through DNA testing becomes extremely challenging, if not impossible. This is because identical twins share almost identical genetic profiles, making it difficult to differentiate between their DNA in a standard paternity test.
Is it possible to test people in different locations?
Yes! We've designed our test kits to be versatile with a Multiple Location Format. This means, upon placing a single order, we will dispatch two separate kits to the respective addresses provided. This streamlined approach ensures both parties receive their kits without the need for additional orders or complex logistics.
Do you ship Worldwide?
Yes! For our customers residing outside the United States, the "Make Your Own Kit" option is especially convenient. With this approach, you can start the testing process immediately, no matter where you are globally, avoiding extra fees and lengthy waiting periods.
How long will it take for me to get my kit once I order it?
We make it a priority to send out our kits quickly. If you order from Monday - Thursday before 2 PM CST, we'll ship it that same day. For orders placed on Fridays before 1 PM CST, they also go out on the same day.
Orders made on Saturday or Sunday will be shipped the following Monday or the next available business day.
Your test kit's arrival time depends on your location:
We use FedEx 2Day Delivery service for shipping.
For international locations, delivery usually takes 7-14 days, but it can vary.
Once your kit is shipped, we'll email you the tracking number so you can follow its journey.
How long will it take for me to get my results once I send back the sample?
The time it takes to receive your results starts from when you send back your kit and varies based on where you bought it:
If you bought it from Amazon, it could take up to 14 business days to reach our clinic.
If you bought it from the My Forever DNA website or Walmart.com, we include a FedEx 2-day shipping prepaid envelope, so it arrives in just 2 business days.
After your DNA samples arrive, we'll email you to let you know they're here. Then, depending on what test you're doing, here's how soon you can expect your results:
For Paternity or Maternity tests, results come 1-3 business days after we get your sample.
For Sibling, Grandparent, or Aunt/Uncle tests, it takes 3-5 business days after we receive your sample.
For tests with an Alternative DNA Sample (anything other than a cheek swab), it takes 7-10 business days after we receive your sample.
How long do I have between collecting the sample and sending it back to you?
Most samples, including a cheek swab or any form of discreet DNA sample is fine to be kept for up to 6 months before sending them to us, as long as they have been stored in a paper envelope or bag in a temperature-controlled environment. It's important to avoid plastic or Ziploc bags for storage.
