How to Manage Expiration-Dated Inventory in AccelerList

This guide explains Amazon’s requirements for perishable (expiration-dated) items and how to properly list, track, and manage them using AccelerList.

🧊 Before You List: Amazon Expiration Rules

Before listing perishable items, it’s important to follow Amazon’s requirements:

  • Expiration dates are required when creating FBA shipments (box content step)

  • Items past their expiration date will be automatically removed or disposed of by Amazon

  • Do not mix different expiration dates for the same ASIN in one box

  • Each box must contain only one expiration date per ASIN

⚠️ Note:
Amazon states it follows FIFO (First In, First Out), but this is not always consistent—it's best to manage inventory rotation yourself.

📦 Listing Best Practices

To avoid issues and stay organized:

  • Pre-sort inventory by expiration date before listing

  • Create separate groups for the same ASIN with different dates

  • Include the expiration date in your custom SKU (e.g., ASIN-EXP-062026)

  • Pack each group separately (one expiration date per box)

  • Clearly label boxes with ASIN + expiration date

👉 This makes shipment creation and tracking much easier.

⏰ Managing Items Near Expiration

AccelerList helps you stay ahead of expiring inventory:

  • Items within 90 days of expiration are automatically flagged

  • Data is updated daily at 8:30 AM

Recommended actions:

  • 90–60 days: Monitor inventory

  • 60–30 days: Run promotions (10–30% discount)

  • 30–15 days: Increase discounts or plan removal

  • 15 days or less: Create a removal order immediately

👉 Removal is usually cheaper than Amazon disposal fees.

⚙️ How to Set Up Expiration Tracking in AccelerList

Step 1: Configure Your SKU Template (One-Time Setup)

Go to:
Settings → MSKU

  • Enable: “Use a default custom MSKU when listing” → Yes

  • Add the tag: Exp Date (MMDDYY)

  • Optional: add Supplier and SKU Number

  • Example format:
    {supplier}-{exp_date_mmddyy}-{sku_number}

Example result:
FOOD-123125-001 (expires Dec 31, 2025)

👉 Save your template to apply it to future batches automatically.

Step 2: Set Expiration Dates in Batches

Go to:
Batches → Create New Batch (or edit existing)

  • Find the Exp Date field in the sidebar

  • Select the expiration date before listing

  • You can also edit expiration dates per item if needed

Step 3: Track Expiring Inventory

Go to:
Inventory → Expiring Soon

Here you’ll see:

  • Items expiring within 90 days

  • Product details (ASIN, SKU, expiration date)

  • Searchable and sortable table

👉 Check this regularly (weekly recommended)

✅ Quick Reminder

  • Always separate items by expiration date

  • Use custom SKUs with expiration tracking

  • Monitor your Expiring Soon tab regularly

  • Act early to avoid automatic disposal fees

Proper setup and regular checks will help you avoid losses and keep your inventory running smoothly 👍
