Understanding Buy Box Eligibility & Ownership

Learn how to determine if your listings are eligible for the Buy Box and how to check if you currently hold it, both in Seller Central and on the live product page.

Updated over a week ago

The Buy Box is the section on a product page where customers can click “Add to Cart” or “Buy Now.” Winning the Buy Box means your offer is the one customers are most likely purchasing from.

What the Buy Box Looks Like

The Buy Box appears on the right-hand side of the product page and includes:

  • Price

  • Seller information

  • “Add to Cart” / “Buy Now” buttons

Other sellers who don’t have the Buy Box are listed under:
👉 “Other sellers on Amazon”

How to Know if You Have the Buy Box

✅ 1. Check in Seller Central

Go to:
👉 Inventory → Manage Inventory

Look for the column:
👉 Buy Box Eligible

  • Yes → Your offer is eligible to win the Buy Box

  • No → Your offer is not eligible

⚠️ Note:
“Eligible” does NOT mean you currently have it — just that you can win it.

✅ 2. Check the Buy Box Price column

In the same page, look at:
👉 Buy Box Price

  • If your price matches or is competitive with this, you have a chance to win

  • If not, another seller likely has it

✅ 3. Check the live listing (manual check)

Open your product listing on Amazon:

  • If your seller name appears in the Buy Box → ✅ You have it

  • If another seller appears → ❌ You don’t currently have it

Important Notes

  • The Buy Box rotates between sellers — even if you’re eligible

  • Winning it depends on multiple factors:

    • Price (including shipping)

    • Fulfillment method (FBA usually has an advantage)

    • Seller performance metrics

    • Shipping speed

Quick Summary

  • Buy Box Eligible = You can compete

  • Buy Box Winner = You currently own the sale button

  • It changes frequently, so it’s normal to gain/lose it throughout the day
